It’s fucked up that he’s giving his brother the same compliment he gives Rogio. That said, I’m really digging all of the details you’re putting in to build anticipation before they all come together for this fight.

it sounds so romantic when he says it like that.. but he fails to mention that he was a toxic, abusive jerk that LITERALLY KILLED HIM. (well at least that's what he thinks)

tbf its not a stretch to say he really did kill rogio. before his encounter with the sapphire elk and spending time with roamer, he was so unsettled by his mind that... was he really even living anymore? at least I would not consider that being truly "alive." a little metaphoric i guess, but still

We have the fourth wall, but has it ever been acknowledged by Ranach that he does indeed know Iberon is Rogio's brother?

It’s pretty heavily implied that he does know, even if he’s never outright said it, for several reasons. Firstly, he no doubt realized Iberon’s resemblance to Rogio (the whole reason he was even drawn to him, in the first place), and then when it was mentioned that Iberon came from the northern mountains, Ranach is clearly flustered by this new information, and then goes off by himself to think about this, saying to himself, “Could he be…?” as if to imply that he knows there’s something more to Iberon, possibly being related to Rogio, as he knows that Rogio came from the same area. Finally, when Iberon is telling Ranach about his tragic past and how he “killed” his brother by incurring the spirit’s wrath upon his entire tribe, we see Ranach’s facial expression become one of shocked recognition, and that’s when we get the flashback of Ranach first meeting Rogio, when he was brought to their tribe bloodied and half-dead, and we can assume that this is because Ranach is thinking back on that moment, thus realizing that Rogio is, in fact, the brother that Iberon is referring to. ^^

Also I doubt Rogio would've gotten on like this with the ghoul inside him for much longer, hadn't he done the trip to the sapphire elk. Either something would've happened and someone had to kill him or he would've done it himself at some point out of despair. So either way I'd also say Ranach killed him
