So for those of you who've been about a long time (or looked at my schedule and saw what I spend my free saturdays working on) know the other setting I spend a fair amount of time in is one known as 'The Movement', and I figured now's a good time to talk about what's being done with it and where it's going.

A Quick Recap

So me and the person I work on this setting with spent a lot of time (a LOT of time) last year ironing out the lore of the world and what we want to do with it, and here's some of the gist of the world:

The key aspects of the 'Moov' setting:

  • A fantasy world set across a series of island chains across an endless ocean.
  • Tech level - Roughly Eastern renaissance.
  • The world is filled with spirits, normally called 'Jinn', who shepherd and guide the humans they come across.
  • The humans of this world seem female-only, and become pregnant based on the Jinn's favour.
  • There's a great variety of human 'races', changing almost isle to isle based on the desires of the Jinn, with appearances and abilities outside the normal range of human capabilities.
  • Mentally, the humans are also heavily influenced by the Jinn, their tastes and opinions partially their own, partially their Jinn's depending on how closely they commune.
  • This influence is achieved through a thing called 'En', some kind of magical field or property that Jinn and others can exert to change a person's perceptions, ideas, manipulate their attention and movement, and even alter their physiology at high enough levels.
  • A Jinn's sphere of influence is limited, often only extending across the island they call their own.
  • Typically the kinks/eroticism expressed in this setting revolves around more 'mystic' occurrences- rituals, incense, chakras, gauzy fabrics, piercings, henna, etc.

The Cult of Yi Lin


This eroticism is promoted and furthered by 'The Movement', a kind of humanocentric cult within the Moov-world that is unique in its veneration of the Goddess Yi Lin, who is known as the only human who has become a Jinn, and gives the gift of erotic/personal pleasure to her followers, something that other Jinn do not comprehend or give to their own followers.

Her followers can sporadically appear anywhere on the planet, though they are more often 'awakened' by other already existing followers of hers, who show them pleasures their Jinn keep them ignorant of (whether the Jinn do this knowingly or not). Sometimes these groups of followers travel together, and sometimes they even form establishments of their own, known as 'Compounds', where they gather together and try to delve into the deep secrets of the world, all while experimenting with new ways to manipulate and master their strangely malleable bodies and minds...

Sometimes Jinn coexist with these followers, or have their own agreements with Yi Lin- or are even seduced themselves in turn. More often than not though the Jinn see this influence as disruptive and counter to their intentions for their human tribe, and seek to root out and banish such followers within the ranks.

Secrecy, therefore, is paramount, as the followers corrupt those Jinn-led communities they find themselves in...


So all that established, what's being done with the setting?

Goddess Games

Well, me and my anonymous chum will be releasing games under the company name 'Goddess Games'. I'll be providing art and some writing, while my chum handles the programming end of things. I've also an eye for wanting to hire new/other writers and artists if it proves viable, but obviously things are very early with this, and exactly how far we go with the entire property depends on how generally successful it is.

Also, though I'll still be able to post up art and updates from these projects here on my patreon, I also have to compensate my programming friend, and to be able to differentiate my earnings between what I get from 'everything' vs. specifically Movement related things. This may lead to a specific Goddess Games subscribestar in the future that's devoted solely to this setting, leaving my personal patreon here to swim in more varied content.

The Gamehub of the Goddess

Though we do have a few types of games and other content in mind for this setting, there is one constant- Yi Lin!

We'll be hosting this project on a public site, and when you log in, the 'Menu' area will actually be you talking to Yi Lin, who not only serves as the one to bring you into the games, but also who you can consult on lore revealed in the game, get spells/help from, adjust the difficulty, or get 'challenges' to complete to get additional rewards, etc. etc.

You'll get to decide on your relationship with her too; despite her title, she's quite flexible, and is fine being your friend, your ruler, or your servant...whatever interests you, she's interested in!

You'll be able to acquire items for her to wear, unique CG's (and even things like new hypnotic inductions/rules that she'd apply to you, if you're interested in that sort of thing ;]). In a way, it's it's own kind of game, with its own scenes and progression.

Outside of this 'hub', there will also be 'stories' for you to immerse yourself in, tales of the world that she tells you that form the Games you can play.

The first of these being worked on is....

The Outpost [WIP Title]

This is a realtime isometric exploration and character management game in which you play a 'Mentor', in charge of a Compound Outpost- a kind of Lighthouse and forward base for your mother compound, which they (and you) can use to spread Yi Lin's influence throughout the isles surrounding your own.

You yourself cannot leave the isle, being needed to power the outpost's 'beacon', which you use to channel En in the surrounding area and provide a way for the main compound to find your island through the nearby 'throughstream' a kind of whirlpool tunnel that connects through the world to other parts of it.

Seeing as you can't go out to the rest of the world though, your mother Compound has been kind enough to provide you with your own subordinate: Cultist-chan!

Now, she's a bit of a free-wheeler, but she'll be in your care so it's up to you to decide how to educate her in the ways of Yi Lin, how much mental training she's to undergo, what she wears, how she worships, what she address you as, etc. etc. Your influence over her actions when you send her out to explore will be limited, so be sure to train her well!

You can also train her in buffness. :)

And have outfit changes and alterations! Along with recolouring, different textures and the like.

And, we're eventually aiming for-


More varied character customization besides. :)

The general idea of the game though is to train her up, send her out exploring the other tiles in order to build up the strength of the outpost's beacon- the more power you get to the beacon, the greater its range will be, expanding the map so you can explore even more.

Real-time

This is going to be very slow-burn game, with the idea we can constantly add new mini-quests and the like to it. As a result, it's going to be more like a game you dip in and out of to set stuff up to get rewards later on- like for instance, you starting up a new magical ritual will take 2 irl days; cultist-chan sailing from 1 grid space to another will take 1 irl; and so on.

Slow and steady!


And the work on this in the future may set the path for other, more fashion-conscious games...

Which will have their own interesting progression systems and scenes...

But hey, nothing's guaranteed right now! We'll see how it goes. :)


How We Will Go From Here

For now, nearly everything you see about is proof of concept stuff and planning and mock-ups of screens rather than functional ones (and there's *a lot more* art like this I haven't shown you, trust me ;-;) but now we've become confident enough in our vision of where to take this setting that it made sense to make an announcement like this one and tell you all about it.

Barring some other circumstance, the next you'll hear of this will be when we have the opening Yi Lin conversation and the opening part of the Outpost game together, which we'll put out online for the public to enjoy as soon as we can. I'd say we're a few months out, as about 85% of my devtime is spent on commissions and Thrallworks, but every now and then you might see a comic or a sketch pop up.
