 CHAPTER 1, I Want To Believe  

Her fingers slid from spine to spine as she scanned through the various titles before her. She always chose books that transported her miles away, away from the village, away from her worries, away from her loneliness. 

Away from herself.

"Mythical Creatures of the Umbra," she read to herself under her breathe as her eyes set on a leather bound tome.

Filled with sudden intrigue she pulled out the book and made her way to one of the tables at the side of the room. Tall ceiling high window panes by her side overlooked the small back garden adjacent to the library. 

Basking in dim sunlight coming from the dirty and unkept windows beside her, she opened the book and skimmed through it's pages. Each one crammed with sketched illustrations and what seemed like hand written information about all sorts of fantastic creatures. 

And while she half-expected to read about unicorns, dragons and werewolves, she couldn't recognize any of the strange creations this person was talking about. 

"No author," she noted, as she looked for a name both on the front pages of the book and the cover itself.

She flipped through and to her surprise found entire sections were completely blank. They weren't erased nor visibly tempered with. It just seemed like whoever wrote this book simply hadn't finished the job.
