Weekly Check-In (1/7/23) (Patreon)

Well, we're officially a week into 2023, and it feels...remarkably similar to 2022 for me.  Almost like the demarcation between years is arbitrary and doesn't really change anything.  Anyway...

So, this week's been pretty cool, all things considered.  The team at Podium is back in the office, which means that I spent part of this week going over cover art for both Death: Genesis 3 and Mistrunner 1 (did I mention I finally finished editing that one?).  Obviously, the art for Death: Genesis is further along (we're on our third sketch now), but we talked about some cool ideas for the Mistrunner cover.  Hopefully, those discussions will bear fruit.  

In more specific Death: Genesis news, book one's still holding strong in the two-thousands (on Amazon's rankings), so I have to assume that's pretty good, considering there are millions of books available on the site.  I'd love to see it jump into the top two-thousand, but that might be a pipe dream this time around.  Maybe with the second book.  In any case, thank you all for your support.  If you have Kindle Unlimited, I'd appreciate it if you hopped on over there and snagged it (don't forget to at least flip through it so I get credit!).  Every unit (even the free ones) helps my rankings, which in turns helps with visibility for the book.  

But that's just if you want to help a guy out!  If not, that's cool, too!

Regarding the week in Mistrunner, we're coming in on the end of book one (if you're a $10 Patron), and we should be done with it in the next 2-3 weeks.  The ending's a bit of a doozy, so I hope you'll enjoy it.  Otherwise, the manuscript for book one is already in the hands of my editors, and they should start to work on it in the middle-to-end of this month.  I still don't have a release date yet, but I'm hoping to have more information soon-ish.

This week, I'd like to pose a bit of a question (regarding skills in Mistrunner):

What kinds of skills would you like to see?  What do you think would be cool?  Essential?  Bear in mind that we're not chucking fireballs and using "magic" in this world (right now), so I'd love to see what you guys come up with.  If you're not comfortable commenting on here, feel free to send me a direct message.  

Or not.  I just thought it'd be kind of cool to see what you all were thinking and maybe integrate that into the story somehow.
