I’m just gonna drop that there and say this:

Now I have to pay 55 dollars to get my account back in the positive. This makes me want to quit doing this because it’s getting to the point where not only can I no longer survive off of this, but now I’m having to owe them because of refunds. This is getting ridiculous. I haven’t been able to post as often as I’d like because I need to find ANOTHER job to support myself on top of this. I’m not really enjoying this anymore, not gonna lie.

Woah I had no idea they did that. That's horrible and totally not fair to you. They seriously need to find a way to fix that. You're putting in tons of time for this. These people should be capable of managing their accounts and thinking about what they're doing.

Fuck it. Ban everyone show cant show proof of charges.

I agree with everyone, you should change your payment to up-front if possible. Cause how I see it, people are just leeching your content then quickly refunding and getting their money back. Seeing how your making a living off this, I don't want to see any harm come to your living situation or your content. I enjoy all your content, given im a lurker this post made me upset to know people are doing it that badly, I hope everything works out for the better in the future Bobby, I aint going nowhere unless you do d(T~Td)

I'll echo what everyone else said - change the charge method to up-front, so that whether someone pledges at the start of the month of the end of the month, they still have to pay up the moment they pledge. The second thing I would do is try to get into a position where you don't spend any of the money for one month until the following month, after the period for refunds has past, but that may not be possible.

With those kind of stingy people, I honestly don't believe you'll ever get their patronage. If they have an option to get something for free, they take it every time, no matter how small. If you do that payment-up-front thing, sure you'll lose their "patronage", but, to be honest, their money just adds a bigger number to the "$ per month" part of your page and nothing else, because you will never get their money.

Change the payment to upfront. It is a necessity. Idk how it possible to actually owe money but I had that kind of thing happen to me too when I first opened up my patreon. It was one of the reasons I stopped using it, but when I returned to try and start it up again it was one of the things I put on it just due to my previous experience. It helps quite a lot.

Wait does my payment not go through if I cancel an hour or so after joining? I thought the way it worked is that pays for the current month. Or are you talking about the people that pledge, get the content, then ask for a refund?

omnomplus

I think the negative money is caused by cancelling the transaction through the credit card companies. ( e.g. by claiming their card was stolen and they didn't have anything to do with patreon )

Lame.... it's terrible, but sadly business necessary for Patreon to make the person getting paid responsible for that, but still. X_X I'm not even sure if I ever have been off of this since I joined, but regardless I know it sucks. But I do agree with Xblurp. I'd be okay paying upfront. I don't see you trying to jip us, your content is amazing!

Disgraceful. It's 5 dollars, my god, how can something so prevalent NOT be accounted for by the site? Content this good and niche needs to be supported. You're not ripping off some billion dollar art house, this is one indie creator paying bills.
