Assorted Notes:
Checked the manga from Junichi Yamakawa that i have read and turns out i HAVE read the story about the teacher and student lmfao
Touched on my "updated piracy stance" but figured id elaborate here.
Essentially where i stand on it is the same with me not ultimately caring what others do aside from my general stance of "dont ask dont tell" LMAO (listen to my piracy podcast to understand the context).
A big issue i had with modern piracy at the time was nitpicks like how fansubbing is all but dead and most pirated episodes are just rips from streaming services but several series ive watched since have not been licensed at all so its served its purpose in the traditional sense of WHY piracy was "necessary" or specifically had value outside of being able to access anime for free.
I had issues at the time with modern piracy site interfaces due to things like lagging and full screen being stretched which were things i didnt have as issues on legal sites like crunchyroll plus on CR i could pause and remove subs to screenshot - WELL A SITE IVE FOUND HAS NONE OF THE ISSUES I HAD BEFORE LMAO so a lot of the logistical issues are less of an issue (except when the site is being ddos attacked in piracy stan wars but thats a whole heap of flaming feces i wont get into).
Lastly of course i just am not a fan of sony/crunchyroll and many many decisions and changes theyve made over the years in addition to the several acquisitions theyve made especially when it favors an inferior product - and all of this is in addition to shit like them underpaying translators - so while im not a whiney entitled child saying shit like "tHiS iS wHy wE pIrAtE" when they werent paying for shit in the first place, i do desire to give them less attention and money than i would have say like 5 years ago but i still sub monthly so i cant exactly do less than that but i would never buy from their store cause i stay hearing they dont package shit well plus i know you can get everything and anything they offer cheaper elsewhere to give money to a smaller business that likely cares more about the product.
ive always had issue with this former piracy platform "finding legitimacy" especially when they STILL use old stolen fansubs for things theyve had on the platform for quite some time but it doesnt help me to ever change my mind that i would like them as a company. RIP Funimation, RIP Rightstuf. Also a cartoon pirate site ive used for years recently introduced "paid subscriptions" like crunchyroll did back in the day and i hope they fry in a volcano cause it may have worked for jpn licenses on a western platform before the anime mega boom but no way that shit will fly with domestic animation - BUH BYE
