It's a major ep for Simpsons history and for that reason, we welcome a pair of first-time guests, Matt Bors and Ben Clarkson, creators of the hilarious satirical comic Justice Warriors! Together we explore the first ep written by Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein, as they tell the story of Marge and Homer working together to fix their slanty shanty. This leads to Mr. Burns sexually harassing her, Tom Jones being kidnapped, and Bart battling a wolf for some reason all on this week's podcast!

My friend has been a long time fan of Columbo. I finally buckled recently, watched it, and loved it. I recommend it to everyone. The board game is great too. It's a mix of Clue and Memory.

The Tom Jones discourse reminded me of how a few years ago, when my grandma died, I was looking through a bunch of her photo albums to find the nicest pictures of her to add to a memorial collage, and I found my mom’s baby book. Tucked inside were multiple newspaper clippings about Tom Jones. I hadn’t even known my grandma was a fan of his, and while I realized pretty quickly that no one’s ages lined up correctly, for a brief moment I did wonder if maybe Tom Jones was my actual grandfather. I did actually learn who he was from this episode, though and felt very “in the know” when he had his early 2000s resurgence.

I love the home improvement segment from this episode. This is not a "Simpsons predicted it," since How To VHS tapes were very common, but it's still a relatable bit as anytime I have to fix something around the house I just head to YouTube. And there's no pace that ever works, I'll watch some guy do some plumbing or disassemble a carburetor and think I have it, only to find after a few minutes I'm trying to backtrack on my phone with now grubby hands as I get frustrated with myself. At least now I don't have to drag a TV and VCR into the bathroom to follow along.

Just my theory, but I think the song Tom Jones sings at the end of the episode is the original choice, it's just that it's noticeably out of sync because of the way the scene's edited together. If you were to re-align the video and audio, I believe it'd fit together better, but doing a retake would have been expensive.

Sorry, I have to disagree with your guests about the Tourette’s joke. Either way it wasn’t funny, but it definitely wouldn’t have read as making fun of Bart for being a dick. It would have read as a Tourette’s joke.

I got robbed twice with only a punch to the face to deal with. The other time I threw the guy into the wall and interrupted his theft. I don't recommend defending you're work place.

Can't wait for the debut of Talking Seinfeld with Matt Bors.
