We made it through the first month of 2022 together, and we've got lots to talk about. There's a good deal of Simpsons news (not to mention King of the Hill), as well as some new information on upcoming podcasts and stuff going on in our lives. Then we wrap things up with comments not just on Simpsons eps, but also on Futurama as now our monthly Patreon podcasts get included in the discussion! Listen now before your squeaky shoes upset the whole church!

Omicron is kinda good news at least (NYT just said it's less lethal than the flu if you're vaccinated) and if it's endemic we may as well get it over with and all get it. Hopefully (hope in increasingly short supply) you guys can host a live show soon.

Glad you're finally watching The Boys, Henry! Just in time for season 3 to roll around this summer

We're still in for a long wait on those Super7 figures. The company just posted an update for all of their figure lines in production (https://preorder.super7store.com/pages/super7-pre-orders-status) and The Simpsons is currently in the tooling stage, which is fancy toy-speak for "mold creation." They'll have to do test shots after that, deco, and packaging which are all done in China, air freighted to California for approval, where they're inspected and feedback is passed back and forth. We're still a little ways out from actual production and if we can get them in 2022 I'll be happy. For comparison, the Donatello I pre-ordered in October 2020 just got to me this past December and the Disney figures I ordered in August of 2020 just finished production and are awaiting a shipping container. They're probably not making it out of China before Lunar New Year so I won't see those until the spring. Fingers-crossed that no one higher up the approval process at Disney notices that smoking Krusty head and gives it the axe.

Classic Disney, eh? I am HERE to vote for Pinocchio, because that movie is easily the pinnacle of this early era in terms of storytelling. It also has some of the scariest imagery Disney ever made. It does things I don't think any Disney film would dare do today.

Thanks for suggesting it, and that new season is why we’re watching Atlanta as well. News of upcoming seasons was the final push to watch these shows, though your endorsement of The Boys was a major factor. - Henry

I've not listened to WHM in some time (I'm trying to whittle down the negative pop culture things I consume, and I still love those boys, but needed less yelling about "bad" movies in my life) but was still surprised they did Eternals. Well, maybe I expected Cabin to be miserable about it. But I enjoyed it very much! It's a flawed film, but its sincerity and cheesy weirdness really worked for me overall. I don't think it's some unappreciated classic, but I hope some folks will come around to it someday.

As a linguistics major, I felt a small twinge of smugness when Bob couldn't pronounce 'alveolar'. That went away pretty quick when I remembered I haven't used that major for any practical purposes for five years now.

Super excited for that AOSTH episode of What a Cartoon. Of all your recurring guests, Ian is by far my favorite, he's always fun and insightful.

Your right you don’t have to see all the movies you also don’t have to play all the games or comic and the like . Like i miss far from home and jump right to no way home no problem. I like crossover but it getting a bit much true and if it someone they get on a bus to see I don’t see what the hype is.

I'm still paying for those classes so the joke is truly on me.

Hey Henry, thank you for recommending City Pop (New J Channel) on YouTube. I just love it, so chill and funky.

I was soooooo happy to hear this is coming! I loved this crazy, slapstick take on Sonic! ^_^ By the way, check out "iteachvader" on YouTube. They have amazing music videos like "Win The Race", "Skydiving" and "Hedgehog Stew" that are made from clips of the show. Some of the editing is incredible and the tunes are really catchy!

Oh fun, you read my comment 🥳 For the record, the @ in gring@ is a neologistic symbol sometimes used in informal written Spanish to indicate gender neutrality since it includes both an -o (masculine ending) and an -a (feminine ending) put together (And, I like to think, other genders as well since it’s a unique symbol in its own right.) “Gringo” refers to a man, “gringa” refers to a woman, and “gring@“ could refer to someone who’s either, both, other, or neither.

Hey, Henry, if you're getting into City Pop, I highly recommend The Legend of the Stardust Brothers, a love letter/parody of the genre direct by Osamu Tezuka's son. Basically a string of stylish music videos with the humor and energy of Looney Tunes. Every song in it is an absolute banger.
