We've reached Batman: The Animated Series' second Christmas episode, which means it's a tale full of gun violence, hard drugs, and a fat guy who has very little in common with Santa Claus! When Detective Harvey Bullock faces several attempts on his life, the loutish detective has no choice but to team up with Batman himself to figure out who, exactly, is trying to bump him off. Can these two put their difference aside long enough to save Bullock's life? Listen in and learn why landlords are actually the most evil supervillains of them all!

A great episode I didn’t revisit enough, but man there is some double trouble in those credits. Jeffery Jones in the voices and based on a story by the fallen creator of both Tim Drake and Alt-Hero Q: Chuck Dixon. Oof.

Dixon didn’t create Tim, but he did have an extended formative run on the character (100 plus issues!), as well as nightwing, detective comics, green arrow, and creating birds of prey (which is weirdly progressive considering his.. viewpoints), he was the best action writer in comics and finding out his awful viewpoints later was a blow to me. That being said, after an extended leave from DC he still gets to come back and work for them, he got to do a recent Bane miniseries, and did work on the recent 80th anniversary issues of catwoman, green arrow, robin, and detective comics.

I do think about the openly homophobic Dixon and Tim’s current storyline, and it must make him so angry, which is delightful.

It's surprising that Dixon didn't get a writing credit on this one. I wonder if they reached out to him like they did other comic writers to see if he wanted to do this one and he turned them down? Regardless, it's a good episode. It's a bit similar to "Vendetta," but with a comedic slant. Batman does he need to get off his high horse though as he and Bullock are pretty similar in their methods. They both routinely go outside of the law to investigate suspects. Batman breaks into so many places on the regular that it's basically normalized by this show. And Bullock comes off as a workaholic himself. Maybe his personal hygiene and diet would be better if he didn't work so much? Or he'd be a slob even if he worked more normal hours. Seeing him just casually take that slice of pizza off of his table and start chowing down even though it had clearly been sitting out all day (or longer) is such a good piece of character animation.

Listening to you guys “Blab ‘Bout Batman” made me want to re-visit both this one & His Silicon Soul…2 episodes I never paid too much attention to before.

Tsundere Bullock: "Baka Batman!" *turns away and blushes*

I am so sold on this series. I didn't know much about it when you started but this is an incredible cartoon.

MMatty

I actually own this as its comic form !

Diamond Feit

I’m 80% certain Jeffry Jones is playing both suspects in this cartoon. Don’t know why he’s uncredited for one voice, but it sounds just like him

Damn Guardians of the Galaxy is my GOTY for 2021. It's a shame Henry didn't like it, I've heard others complain about the constant talking though. The strange thing about Arkham Origins is it never came to PS4/X1. I had to play it via PS Now after my PS3 died but I never finished it.

Since recording this I have beaten the game and I grew on me, but the endless talking still drove me up the wall to the very end. I'd give it a 7 out of 10, but with a positive recommendation attached. - Henry
