The US election season is (mostly) over and the holidays are about to happen as we reach the end of a... rough year for all involved. You guys have helped us make it through this tough time, and we hope we've done the same for you. And so, as we close out 2020, get ready for four brand new episodes of What A Cartoon! The month of podcasts begins with us covering a just-released toon, then we're doing a pair of Xmas toons for this festive season, one for all-ages and one not-so-much. Finally, we'll bring this year to a close with one of the most complex subjects What A Cartoon Movie has ever explored!

And just FYI, if you're not yet a subscriber, signing up at the $5 level on this Patreon will get you each What A Cartoon! episode a week ahead of time and ad-free, along with our massive collection of exclusive miniseries (like the recently launched Talking Futurama Season 2 Part 2) and over 100 bonus podcasts on top of that!

Now let's see what's coming during this very festive season:

Animaniacs (2020) - "WhoDonut/Mousechurian Candidate/Starbox and Cindy" [Patreon: 12/7/20 - Free Feed: 12/14/20]

We begin December with a podcast ripped straight from the headlines: The JUST released reboot of Animaniacs. We'll be discussing the show's loooooooong development and production, the celebrated release on Hulu, and we'll be talking all about the show's ups and downs—and the eighth episode in particular, which is the strongest of the batch. Are they still zany to the max? Listen along real soon to find out!

The new (and old) Animaniacs is currently streaming on Hulu (in the US at least).

A Garfield Christmas Special [Patreon: 12/14/20 - Free Feed: 12/21/20]

Our first of two seasonal podcasts covers a favorite of most '80s kids, as we return to our favorite fat cat. Listen as we chat about Garfield's 1987 Christmas special, which has more than one version out there, not to mention tons more surprising factoids as we reminisce about heading to the Arbuckle farm for the holidays.

The full special is available on the official Garfield YouTube channel.

South Park - "A Very Crappy Christmas" [Patreon: 12/21/20 - Free Feed: 12/28/20]

After almost three years of this podcast, the time has come for one of the biggest animated TV shows of all time, as well as one of the most controversial. We discuss South Park's creation which is mirrored in the plot of their 2000 Christmas episode, and we also chat about our many memories of the series that are mixed in with a general disappointment and dislike for many of the creators' opinions. Get ready for a complicated nostalgia trip alongside the fecal adventures with Mr. Hankey.

South Park is currently streaming on HBO Max.

An Extended Preview of What A Cartoon Movie for The End of Evangelion [Patreon: 12/28/20 - Free Feed: 1/4/21]

And we're closing out 2020 with the winner of our movie versions of TV series poll, with the apocalyptic vision of Shinji Ikari's tortured life. After the unfinished ending of Neon Genesis Evangelion, it was time for the real end of the series to happen on a scale of biblical proportions. How did Hideaki Anno end his story the first time around? Is it still "so fucked up?" Listen along and find out in our deep dive.

And remember: $5 patrons and folks on the free feed will hear an extended preview of the podcast, but if you want the whole thing (and access to all previous What A Cartoon Movie podcasts) be sure to increase your subscription up to the $10 level.

Quite a big month to wrap up a... unique year, to say the least. And don't forget that in addition to this, there's a new episode of Talking Futurama every Friday until the end of the year, meaning $5 and up subscribers will get to listen to three new podcasts a week! As always, thanks so much for your support and look forward to even more fun next month, along with some holiday surprises!

I guess the easiest way to some what sum up my ranty reply up above is that I’m super excited for the episode on South Park but afraid I might need to skip it because while I want them to approach it the same way they approach the death of mod and kill the alligator and run with an open and objective mind to find the good and the bad i’m just afraid it’s going to turn into a we don’t like South Park episode which would be a bummer because I like It a lot and think it’s misunderstood and it’s fine that people don’t like it, but I don’t agree with a lot of the attitudes I’ve seen recently not necessarily on the show but in general that people want you to feel bad if you do like South Park or find a value in it and I think that’s very misguided for several reasons so I hope the episode doesn’t veer in that direction but I am nervous. But I will approach the episode in an open mind with caution. I love the way you guys critique and break down everything else it would just be a shame if that same analysis didn’t find any value in some thing that I think is valuable and I wish there was a “pro South Park “ guest on this one.
