What the hell are YOU starin' at? Well, if you were watching the USA network in the mid-'90s, you might have been staring at Duckman, cable TV's answer to the Simpsons starring a cast of yellow characters much more twisted than anything Fox had to offer. Despite not being a ratings smash, Duckman's star power and status as a critical darling gave it an impressive 70-episode run, and it remains an impressive mix of lewd jokes and cutting social satire 25 years later. This week, listen in as we give a full history of this private dick/family man, and explore a bottle episode that proves just how versatile Duckman can be.

So It's Come to This: A Duckman Podcast [how has it taken THIS long?]

Psych's getting TV movie(s) (creator said he wants to make around 5 films, so far they've made 1 and the second one is coming out next month)...not new eps...and they're going to be on Peacock.

I need Talking Duckman now. Especially after that excellent history segment. Now I want to watch The West Wing.

The CableACE clip mentioned. Duckman shows up around 2:30 in. https://youtu.be/UQw04dGTjGk

Funnily enough, you both were mostly right in saying that Jason Alexander never really had the chance to record with the rest of the Duckman cast. From what I’ve seen in interviews with Jason, however, it seems like this episode that you covered was the exception to the rule. I even got the chance to ask Jason a question that got read on Gilbert Gottfried’s podcast regarding this specific episode and he confirmed that they all performed it together in studio as if it was a radio play. He stated that it took a long time for them to get through the recording, but he ultimately loved the experience of actually playing the characters with others for a change. With the type of dialogue that was always being written for the characters I can only imagine how long the session actually took

I wanna play that Duckman point & click game so bad! Also, somewhere in my basement I have the Duckman comic, which apparently can sadly no longer be used to fund my retirement. Stupid ebay running comic prices!

you didn't talk about my favorite part of this episode. when honey called chicken out on his infidelity he just responded with i'm a man before quickly realizing how stupid what he just said was

The Klasky Csupo look has definitely grown on me in recent years. I almost went with a Klasky Csupo show for my next patron pick, but the songs in that show were just so awful that I couldn’t make it through the 1st episode. I will gladly vote for Duckman in the next miniseries poll unless it’s up against Daria. I will always vote for the misery chick.

That Moonlighting episode almost reminds me of the "kid imagining Arnold Schwarzenegger in Hamlet" scene from The Last Action Hero, where he too is bored at being forced to learn something and imagines his favourite person in that story. Glad to see the mention of Radioland Murders, it sits right alongside Willow, Red Tails and Strange Magic of weird Lucas passion projects. Re: That CW Beauty and the Beast series, Robot Chicken did a great skit where the nerd character becomes the beast character on that series, and he notes that "this seems like a very livable affliction!"

I fucking LOVE Duckman. I had never seen it as a kid or even really heard of it until Bob brought it up on an old podcast several years ago and first watched one for the Talking Simpsons episode about it. Early in 2019 I bought the complete series DVD set and devoured it over the next few weeks and have been in love with it ever since. The art style fits the bizarre antics and insanity of the world so well, the music is PHENOMENAL, and all of the voice talent brings their A-game every episode. Although it's a bit of a bummer this episode doesn't have Cornfed and the bears, getting to talk about Tim Curry's excellent King Chicken makes up for that. I LOVE how he works in the clucking "BUCK BUCK" noises into the dialogue like stutters and the ongoing feud between him and Duckman is probably one of the greatest rivalries in all of animation. I really hope one day soon we get a full TALKING DUCKMAN for the first season of the show. ALL HAIL PRIVATE DICK/FAMILY MAN

Loved the Episode guys. Would love to see Talking Duckman as a series but I don't know if it's going to happen for some bizarre reason. I swear we'll get Talking Stressed Eric or Talking Baby Blues before Talking Duckman because people just seem to vote against every time. XD
