This month on What A Cartoon Movie! we're looking at one of the few bright spots of a particularly dark decade for Disney. The Great Mouse Detective only aspired to capture that classic Disney magic, but thanks to its economical nature, it proved the  viability of feature animation and made the careers of artists who would later craft some of the company's biggest hits. On this episode, listen in as we give the fascinating history of The Great Mouse Detective, and then discuss every detail of this charming little movie. Crack open your favorite bottle of Rodents' Choice brandy and get ready to join us for another super-size discussion!

In regards to the part about Pints - In the UK a Pint is an actual Pint of Ale/Beer/whatever it is you want. (you can get half pints also) So in mouse world, their version of a Pint must be the mouse scale imperial measurement system.

This was such a fun listen!! I didn’t see this when it was in theaters but remember renting it when it came out on VHS. I also watched it again recently when I heard this podcast and it’s such a fun movie! I wish it had gotten better treatment by the executives at the time but it’s still so fun. And just a fyi to maybe clarify what seemed to be confusion about Henry Higgins — My Fair Lady was the musical adaptation of the play Pygmalion, so the main character names were kept and the story is pretty much the same. Thanks again for such a fun podcast!
