In an episode full of movie references, we happily welcome back Andrew Jupin from the We Hate Movies podcast! Written under slight protest by the brilliant Jon Vitti, Bart gets revenge on Homer by teaming up with a man who was once Tom Cruise. All that plus addiction to Corey and a massive brawl all over town. We promise, this podcast is LESS painful than it looks!

The ending of this episode fooled me as a kid when Tom and Pepe are both essentially in mourning over their crumbled Bigger Brother relationships. I actually thought they weren't going to go off together, and maybe if this were Season 5 that would have happened, and was relieved when Bart made his suggestion. Anyway, we need a follow-up episode on Pepe so we can find out how he came to occupy the body of Tinny Tim a thousand years in the future.

i work in radio and while my station doesn't adhere to a strict clock the way most NPR affiliates to, we still have a channel on our studio consoles that has a continuously spoken clock with beeps and tones indicating the passage of seconds. it's useful when an exact time must be hit for one-minute-past-the-hour NPR news cut-ins and other syndicated programming. also my mom LOVES bobby sherman.

In the grand ol' times of landlines, the number we called for time was POP-CORN (767-2676). Our use for it: dad hated us getting calls late at night. He enacted a 9pm curfew for calls. But, kids are always better at tech than their folks (yes, even phones) At night, my teenage brother would call POP-CORN & set the phone down nearby. At some point the auto-voice would be interrupted by a CLICK. This would be call waiting (remember call waiting?). He could click over to talk to his friends for hours and dad would not be woken. The best part? With call waiting, when you hung up on one call, the "waiting" call would ring back through. So, my bro would hang up, the phone would ring, dad would answer ready to rage at... "At the tone, the time will be 12:17am... beep."

I find that tropey detail of Homer angrily pouring himself a drink off the seldom seen front entrance liquor cabinet so funny for some reason

Love that "Loaded Weapon 1" is the movie featuring both Sam Jackson and Bruce Willis that no-one remembers. 😁
