Snippets and Sneak Peek (Chapter 6) Pt. 3 (Patreon)

Hey guys 👋 This is the very first sneak peek into the second half of Chapter 6!

For this sneak peek, I'll be sharing the beginning of the new update and it immediately continues from where Chapter 6 Part 1 last left off. The beginning of the chapter has expanded more than I first planned as I got an idea to give more options to the readers 😄

Without further ado, here's the sneak peek!

A few hours later…

You and Rin are sitting in your $!{car}. To your right, just across the street, is the Night Owls. The warm yellow light spills onto the pavement and out into the cold evening sky. The two of you have been sitting here for fifteen minutes or so, watching the entrance to the watering hole intently. You're honestly getting restless with each passing minute.

But at least you and Rin are warm inside your car. Ash has been standing outside, leaning on ${ash_his} bike for almost half an hour now—not like the cold winter air will bother ${ash_him} anyway. There were a couple of people smoking outside earlier and you saw them talk with Ash a bit before going back inside. Now, it's only Ash hanging out in front of the bar.

You expect the area outside the bar would be livelier than this, but the neighborhood is mostly deserted. Just a few pedestrians pass by even though it's not that late in the evening. But to be fair, this area is more of an industry area than a commercial one or a residential one, and whoever lives here knows not to go out in the streets too much once the sun has set.

"I think now is a pretty good time to get in," Rin says slowly, eyes still glued to the entrance.

"I think so too," you agree. "I'll let Santana and Skylar know."

You all met around thirty-five minutes ago, and you all agreed to stagger your arrival at the Night Owls so as not to bring too much attention. Honestly, you think your ${carsh} and Skylar's Mustang convertible are already eye-catching enough in this area. But those two expensive cars rolling up in front of the bar simultaneously might be far more conspicuous.

You think about trying the earpieces that Santana borrowed from the ECPD station, but you're not sure where they are right now or whether they are in range. So, you decide to call one of them instead.

CHOICE

#I'll call Skylar.

#I'll call Santana.

CALLING SKYLAR

You decide to call Skylar. It takes until the fifth ring when ${sky_he} finally picks up, probably because ${sky_he}'s driving.

IF ROMANCING SKYLAR
"Hey, sweetheart," ${sky_he} greets and you can practically hear the purr. "Miss me already?"

IF NOT ROMANCING SKYLAR
"What's up, $!{name}?" Skylar greets you before snickering, "Don't tell me that you're already missing your new bestie?"

CHOICE

#"W—We just met like, half an hour ago," I stammer, cheeks heating up. [♥]

#"It feels like forever since I last saw your ${sky_handsome} face," I sigh exagerratedly. [♥]

#"I've just seen your stupid face half an hour ago," I huff, cheeks heating. [♥]

#"You know that we just saw each other half an hour ago, right?" I say, trying to play it cool. [♥]

#I ignore ${sky_his} lighthearted comment and ask ${sky_him} to be serious.

#I joke with ${sky_him} a bit.

* * * * *

"I've just seen your stupid face half an hour ago," I huff, cheeks heating.

"I've just seen your stupid face like, half an hour ago," you huff out in annoyance. "I could do without it for another day at the minimum."

To your chagrin, however, you feel your cheeks heat up a bit against your will. Thankfully, it's dark, so Rin won't notice it hopefully.

IF NOT ROMANCING RIN
Not like ${rin_he} cares anyway. $!{rin_his} eyes are still glued to the entrance of the bar.

IF ROMANCING RIN
But still, ${rin_he} turns ${rin_his} gaze to you, a slight frown etching ${rin_his} face as ${rin_he} scrutinizes your face and reaction.

$!{sky_he} gasps dramatically, "Ouch… You wound my poor, fragile heart. How would I recover from this?"

"Well, do it quick because we're ready to get in now. So, get your ass over here," you scoff.

"Alright, alright," ${sky_he} sighs before chuckling, "I'll be there in a jiffy."

"Good. Rin and I will be waiting here," you say before hanging up.

IF NOT ROMANCING SKYLAR

"'Bestie'?" you repeat.

IF RIN'S TRUST IS HIGH
"Ash and Rin are already here with me," you deadpan.

IF RIN'S TRUST IS LOW
"Ash is already here with me," you deadpan.

"Ouch, I walked right into that one, didn't I? Well, just you see, we will be friends," ${sky_he} chuckles. "Anyway, what's up?"

"Calling to let you know that now is a good time to get in. So, get your ass over here."

"Yes, ${sir}!" ${sky_he} replies cheekily before hanging up.

IF ROMANCING SKYLAR

"Hmm, you must've gotten lost in some other dimension after we met up thirty minutes ago then," you deadpan.

$!{sky_he} laughs before clearing ${sky_his} throat and replying dramatically, "It felt like thirty years ago for me. I counted every second to the time I get to see your face again."

You chuckle, "Well, luckily for you, your days of counting are over. Get your ass over here. Now is a good time to get in."

"Yes, ${sir}!" ${sky_he} replies cheekily before hanging up.
