We learned SO much about making candles by going into the process somewhat blind. We also probably could have learned many of these things by doing research first, but it makes for a more entertaining video for us to "learn" the hard way on camera haha! You can see the simple candles I made in containers in the top left and Katelyn's fancy molded ones in the top right.

And while we did technically make candles... only 2 of them actually work (both Katelyn's). I used pre-waxed wicks (with paraffin wax) and filled the candle with soy wax, which has a much has a much lower melting temperature. That means that when lit, the wick does not get a chance to pull in new soy wax because the paraffin wax around the wick has not yet melted. DOH! 🤣

Like we mentioned in the video, we tested a cheap and an expensive candle making kit (I did cheap, Katelyn did expensive) and I think the biggest lesson we learned is don't buy a kit! Just buy individual elements. You'll see why in the video 😋

I'm so glad we tried something new, and now that we've learned the basics, we're already getting ideas for new candle making videos 😀

Hope y'all are had a great weekend.
