Hi all,

I am working on a video about romplers, and boy there's a lot to learn. It's a much bigger project than I thought, and I want to have a few different ways to approach the information.

I was wondering, do you have a favorite rompler? What is it? Why is it your favorite? Do you have any fun rompler facts? Do you use hardware romplers (or their software equivalent, like the Roland JV Series) in your music? If so, which and why?

Feel free to leave a comment below if you want to be involved in helping me reach the peak of Mt. Rompler.

I was always a fan of the Roland JV series, which is well represented by the Roland Cloud subscription. I also loved the sound of the Proteus line of rack modules. My last "rompler" was a Yamaha Motif 7... I did like the Korg M-and-T series too, which is really well done in the Korg plug in, too. Hope that helps?

Also Why Rompler? Superfast (no load lag time) access to "good enough" sounds especially when composing or gigging. Also Rompler sounds (to my ears) tend to be EQ'ed to cut through a bit more than sample libraries, so it's sort of immediately "present". I liked the Roland Sound the best, then Yamaha, then Korg... but those Korg M1 sounds are everywhere on tracks in the late 80s.

Also the stock drum samples that came on the SP505, I still use them. Probably the same 808/909 sounds that came on the jv/xv but idk more accessible on the sp505
