What's the difference between damage reduction and resistance

Will there eventually be a percentage cap on damage reduction and resistance? Because if he eventually takes no damage from any of the magic, his void thief class ability will be unable to be utilized. Or am I wrong.

Actually it works the other way. Incoming spells hits Michael's void armor first which either rebuffs the damage completely (i.e. resist) or failing that, absorbs a portion of the damage (i.e damage reduction) using mana. So as Michael's void skills increase (and the damage to his health pool decreases), the percentage of damage absorbed by the void armor increases, causing it to go down quicker and for him to steal spells faster. I hope I explained that all clearly. Does that make sense?

Resistance = probability of completely negating damage and spell effect. For example. when he resisted the frost ent's cold sphere, he neither took damage, nor was he chilled. In this case, damage reduction doesn't come into play. Reduction = what percentage of incoming damage that Michael failed to resist is absorbed by his void armor. For example: lets say an incoming fire bolt will do 10% Health damage, and micheal's damage reduction is 80%, then actual damage to his health = 2% while other 8% is absorbed by void armor. Does that make sense?
