Fear of death... is what keeps us alive.

Finishing up the last of the reboot movies and this one was super action-y, great music and that cast has such great chemistry. I liked the ending with the characters all saying the "boldly go" speech! I wish there were more of these, here's hoping they make more in future 🖖
Note: Star Trek 2009 re-watch will be coming soon!

Oh frick’in aye I am going to enjoy this right now. Thank you so much.

Those movies give you a better appreciation of the original movies. Especially Beyond... I didn't care for the Kelvin timeline movies

Clay F

Agree. I wish there were more of these. J.J. and the cast did a great job in this trilogy.

djKENTO

I absolutely LOVE how much energy Sofia Boutella in this. In fact I love her in everything she does. Would REALLY love to see Hotel Artemis get a reaction.

Anonymous

so glad the one time I tried watching this, I didn't make it more than five minutes in (just wasn't in the right headspace), so this'll be an all-new experience!

Andreas Köther

The „For Anton“ credit is really sad actually because the actor who played Chekov was crushed by his own car rolling back in his driveway. So sad to lose somebody that young.

Dustin Denner

Seeing the photo of the OG crew at the end always brings a tear to my eye.

Anthony Peterson

I know these films have their critics - and I am certainly one of them when it comes to the 2nd of these - but I love them. Those who have a more purist sensibility have valid criticisms but the first one is a rollicking good time and this one is a ton of fun. Worth it for the "beats and shouting" scene alone imho.

Vault Dweller

You definitely should go back and watch ALL of the ToS! You missed so many iconic episodes! I'm onboard for the entire ride if you do!

Ian

Always lovely to wake up to a new Jen video drop 🙌 then reality hits and realise I got a full days work to get through first before I can watch ugh super looking forward to finishing the trilogy though 🖖

Chris Pine at least has done some work since then: Hell or High Water, the Wonder Woman films are not exactly great cinema, but he at least performs admirably; and then last year, Dungeons & Dragons knocked everybody's socks off, at just how surprisingly good it was. Entertaining as hell, but with a lot of heart too!

Anonymous

agreed, Sofia carries herself with such poise and confidence here, and in Kingsman. You love to see it! Did you know that Jennifer Lawrence was originally slated for the role of Jaylah; hence the name

Anonymous

at least you have something fun to look forward to, to get you through the day! 😀

Clay F

Good reply. Agree. I have seen Wonder Woman and Hell or High Water (nominated for 4 Oscars including Best Picture), and liked both. I thought Pine did especially good in Wonder Woman. I have not seen the movie Dungeons & Dragons (though played the game many hours 40 years ago). I have read it a good movie and want to watch it. I like Pine.

I enjoy the Kelvin timeline trilogy, immensely fun. Yorktown in particular looks like something out of the Usborne: World of the Future: Future Cities book I read as a kid 40 years ago. The main thing I love about STB is the inclusion of several key elements from the Star Trek: Enterprise series, set about 100 years or so before TOS, at the dawn of the Federation. ST:E had more than its share of detractors (much like the Kelvin trilogy), and it was cancelled before its time, so it was nice to see the show getting some love.

Alecco

I think the first 2 kelvin timeline ST movies are okay, but this one I just dont like. dumb story, mediocre villain, and in the end pretty boring.

Clay F

Awesome movie -- keeps your attention till the end. Jaylah has such distinctive facial features. She is pretty (inside and out). "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" (1987) would have been a good song. Sabotage (1994) was a nice touch. I thought the interaction between Bones and Spock really good. The Sulu character does well too. I agree that this trilogy really nailed the Bones character (w/Karl Urban and the writing). Near perfection. Star Trek Beyond (2016). RT=87%, audience score 80%. I concur. A good movie that honors the ST franchise. What I like about this trilogy is the excellent depiction of the characters and their chemistry. As Leonard Nimoy said, "great heart with the characters. ... capture[s] the essence of the fun of the Star Trek characters, the chemistry between the people, the excitement of becoming part of that crew and going out on this adventure. ... I was pleased with how they treated the Spock character. I thought that they really got it. ... I was very happy to see Zachary Quinto take over the character. I think he’s an excellent, well-trained actor and excellent for the job." By the way, Shohreh Aghdashloo (who played Commodore Paris) is a lead character in the critically-acclaimed popular sci-fi series "The Expanse" (2015-2022) [RT=95%, IMDb=8.5], which I think you would like. A reaction would attract subscribers. --I grew up watching the ST original series in the mid-70s. At age 11, I had a model of the Enterprise and a model of a Klingon warbird hanging from my bedroom ceiling. My uncle helped me assemble (glue) the models. Me = sentimental, nostalgia for the original series. An innovative series, ranging from a view of the unknown to a focus on logic vs emotion to a black female officer on the bridge, etc. --Then, TNG was an ultimate for me. The sound of Picard saying "No. 1" or "Engage." Watching TNG in the early 90s was a weekly event for me and my wife in our house. I think you will grow to like TNG even more in season 3 onward. --Lastly, thank you for reacting to the Chris Pine trilogy (canon w/alternate timeline). I am an old timer who finds the trilogy fresh, slick, and entertaining. I am glad you watched Star Trek (2009) in the very beginning to hook you into Star Trek.

Ron

Yes, please! I'd love it if you went back to finish the rest of the original series.

Ian

Great finish to a wonderful trilogy of movies , Jen your choice to wear the turquoise top was a stroke of genius it marries up with the environment on the planet and the ambience on the ship perfectly so many pretty blue/green colouring and you dressing so added an extra depth to your fantastic reaction 🙌 . Jayla looked so cool a cosplay you could pull off easy Jen and look nail it pretty sure you could pull off any hair colour 👌. Saw this in the cinema and the music just wow as great as it must be through your earphones there's just something extra about spectacular surround sound . Love this cast I can easily separate myself from one trek to the next and enjoy it all equally bones is hilarious but I'm with you Jen team Scotty for the win 🔥 . Music as a weapon he's so inventive and awesome and in your words "one kick ass song " 🙂 cheers for being your awesome bubbly self Jen you're an astonishing reactor 66k subs and counting can confirm that 💙

You don't need to watch all TOS episodes but clearly there are a bunch more great episodes you can watch, perhaps alternating with TNG as now that you are nearly at season 3 TNG shifted in writing, effects and became great. Fans who believed Trek could never not involve the TOS crew realized by this season that yes it could. And DS9 took the mantle over and was even better. Fantastic reactions to these reboot movies. I have come to enjoy them more and more over time. At the time Darkness came out it was kind of realized that Khan was that character so watching your reaction not knowing and then finding out was right up there when you realized Blofeld was the villain in Spectre.

Clay F

DS9 is excellent. Watch for the performances. Good acting. Good writing. Has plenty of action, but the show is really about social issues and inspires philosophical discussion.

Jason Scade

Exciting reaction to New Trek. I do prefer TNG and TOS though. Good choices for the beats and shouting, I've seen the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy live. Chuck D has some energy levels! I'd be up for a return to TOS Trek. Would that be in between TNG eps or not? :) Love your outfit, you look tout prest. 💜

RocktSurgeon

It would be great to see reactions to Strange New Worlds at some point. It’s really good itself, in the TOS era with the enterprise before Kirk.. with Pike as captain.

Star Trek 09 and Into Darkness were my introduction into Trek. After Into Darkness came out I was very intrigued to learn more about Khan so I started TOS from the beginning and now I'm a huge Star Trek fan that's seen every episode of every show and all 13 movies. I think there are many of us that were introduced to Star Trek through this trilogy. Hope you continue to watch all the other shows after you finish TNG!
