You're gonna need a bigger boat.

Wow! Spielberg + practical effects + John Williams = a masterpiece! I already had an irrational fear of sharks so I was super scared watching this but I loved it!!

Thanks for hanging out + watching with me! 😊

⭐ Special thanks to Producers: MattN, Todd Preble, CBonius, Tyler Gorash, Ed Dunn, Incognito, John Walters, JT, Noby + those who wish to remain uncredited :)

This movie was filmed on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. As a native of MA I grew up on the water and learned to sail at a young age. After I saw this movie for the first time I refused to go back into a boat for nearly a year. I even hated swimming pools for a while! It's amazing how in this case reality has mimicked art because over the past decade thanks to warming ocean temperatures great white sharks are a common sight all around Massachusetts. They are particularly prevalent along Cape Cod and the islands (Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket). We have shark sightings almost everyday in the summer now; it's even becoming it's own tourist industry. Unfortunately there have even been a few attacks including at least one fatal. Another interesting twist is the child actor who played the boy who pulled the prank with the fake dorsal fin and said his friend made him do it...well a few months back that actor - obviously all grown up now - was named the new police chief of the town of Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard.

The documentary on the making of Jaws is also really good. The story that Quint tells of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis is true. Nearly 900 men spent 4 days in the water and only around 300 survived. Quint's monologue is probably one of the most famous scenes in film history. It's just so perfect.

This was fun, thanks Jen. Loved the summer top. Very cute. Jaws 2 is a fun movie. No need to go past 2. It gets pretty bad just like Superman 3 etc.

I don't usually go in for the animal attack movies, but I make an exception for this Classic! Ahhh look he's so cute he's smiling bless him. 😁 I love how you called the foreshadowing of the tank exploding. Did you think at any point that they might blow him up, after you'd said it.

Great react Jen! I love this movie so much! Aside from it's historical influence on film, it's ubiquitous theme song, and cultural impact, it's still just such a great movie! That being said, and as much as I love this movie(I truly believe it falls in one of the greatest 100 movies of all time), I feel like I need to stand up for sharks for a bit. Because as great of a movie it is, it really was pretty bad on shark optics. The true of the matter there are very few shark attacks every year and out of those only a small percentage are fatal. I grew up in New England on the shore.. and you can look at shark tracking sites like ocearch and there are a ton of great whites all up and down the east coast. On the other hand, a third of the world's sharks are on the endangered animal list because of overfishing and finning. Sharks are awesome, beautiful, important, and for the most part... just trying to be left alone.

It’s funny that you gave the MVP to the makers of the shark. Spielberg would definitely disagree with that. They had so many problems and failures with it. Originally it was supposed to be seen a lot more but because they couldn’t get it to work they cut it back and went with the shark’s point of view more which turned out to be a stroke of genius because it made it that much more tense
