I find the Geordi story frustrating. Not bad, just frustrating. "I'm guilty of reaching out to you... of trying to connect". Ok, but he had so many opportunities to explain the situation to Dr. Brahms. As for what you called a "space clam", I call it a "space pierogi". lol

geordi is right though..writing is not his strong suite...hes more of a reader.

Yeah, it's an interesting episode to rewatch in modern times. I think a lot of us thought it was a relatable episode in the 90's. Seen through a modern lens, the writers did Geordi dirty, as so many of his talking points sound kind of entitled / incel-y.

Very entertaining reactions! "...debating the ethics of a holodeck Superman fantasy ๐Ÿ˜‚" ๐Ÿ˜… I liked 'First Contact' episode a lot. 'Space Clams' was okay, the Geordie cringe is pretty high. ๐Ÿ˜‚

You saw the same poor writing in Galaxy's Child that I did. Geordi was done a major disservice. I refuse to accept Galaxy's Child as canon for that reason. I mean for goodness' sake, the episode had him gaslighting a woman into thinking SHE was the problem after his lying, manipulation, and highly questionable use of her image on the holodeck were uncovered. If it helps at all, Galaxy's Child was the one and only Star Trek episode written by someone named Tom Kartozian, making it much easier to dismiss than an episode written by one of the mainstays in the show.

I'm having a Star Trek night and catching up on your reactions, so I'll be writing two comments... This one, First Contact... all I can say about this one, besides it reminding me of The Day The Earth Stood Still and Explorers, is I LAUGHED SO HARD at your "For science!" proclamation when the Malkonian lady was persuading Riker to have sex with her. "My alien", indeed... ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‰

Second comment, about Galaxy's Child... yeah, the ethics problems concerning creating people on the holodeck aside, Geordie was a huge facepalm with how he was acting around Leah. But oh, boy, do I act like a fool and even come across as a bit creepy when I have a crush on someone, so I kinda understand.

Revisiting this... wouldn't it be really awkward if Riker goes back to the planet ten years from that and she hunts him down to tell him there's a half-Malkonian/half-Human hybrid waiting to meet him?? ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
