Souta deserves to play more than anyone else!!! Couch really let him down and I feel like his passion for football is getting wasted....... ;-; and yes he should've informed souta about the changes beforehand

I do think it's important for Souta to be on the bench. Everyone should have to be at some point to make them realize it isn't a punishment, those on the bench aren't lesser, and see the game from a different perspective so, in his case, he learns where, how and when to use his passion. Bench players are just as important because the team relies on them to be there, to carry the team when they have to, to support their friends and help carry them to victory. Obviously wanting to play is in every sportsman's mind, but everyone also needs to realize that taking a seat back, seeing the field from another perspective and appreciating that time on the field is important. I'm sure this will just make Souta an even better player :) I may be a bit biased as a bench player back in the day lol always ticks me off when people get all heated like being on the bench is sooooo awful! Yo, we're good players too. Guess I'm the odd one out since the coach seems really nice to me. He didn't say the other players were better. He explained what they had that the team needed. He didn't just toss Souta to the curb with a "be better" excuse. He made sure to give Souta a compliment, telling him what he is good at too, and also explained his decision so that, hopefully, Souta can get back onto the field. He made sure Souta knows he is valuable even while on the bench. Coaches always get shit because they gotta make the tough decisions >.< Anyways, excited to see how this all progresses!

I'm actually so glad you think so. While I'm happy people are invested in Souta's journey and tune in with his feelings, I'm always glad if someone can also see the other side of the coin. Sure, the coach could have told Souta that he's getting benched in advance, but otherwise Souta's frustration is very much tied to his own ego and insecurities. And yes! Being a bench player doesn't make someone a bad player. Sometimes the best players start on the bench so they can save their energy for when they enter the game at the end.
