A love letter to surfing and basketball

Eugenio Triana

Agreed on prince of darkness, in the mouth of madness is a more successful Lovecraft/Carpenter mix although it came later

Anonymous

Last OP was for Stanger and he 100% understood everything I mentioned- but for real if you bout dat ABZ life and don’t know what the 1000/1500/2000 club are, don’t know what Murph is, and never heard of GoRuck- I dare say they are expanding into new demographics

Anonymous

If they’d deliberately gone completely OTT and embraced camp then I think this could’ve worked, though undercut the original. Unfortunately it’s a plain old bad movie. PS: love Pearl Jam, probably one of my favourite bands, but if you can’t stand yarbler-in-chief Vedder they’re automatically unlistenable. Pretty pompous buggers too.

Anonymous

Prince of Darkness is too slow and uneven. ITMOM is a triumph for its time and considering budget constraints. Worth seeing for the ambition alone.

Haunted Screen

See JCs reaction to an Escape from LA hater at 5’18” 😂 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BKl0Mb1SODE

Sam Riebesehl (Reeb-Uh-Shell)

‘96 and ‘97 were such bummers for bad sequels. This movie, Lost World, Speed 2, and Alien Resurrection. Such let downs for me as a teen

Anonymous

The Lynchburg, VA reference could be because Liberty University is located their. It’s a large Christian College.

Big month for poorly designed submarines

bloodflart

Doctor Dookiestein

Anonymous

Another weirdly topical thing having a sub in the movie

Anonymous

I was so shocked and pumped feels like I've been kicked in the balls

bloodflart

Stephen Dorff is in Righteous Gemstones his voice rules bet he can vape thick clouds

Megan

Haven't listened yet but I could see Gabrus rocking the hell out of an eye patch at some point in his style evolution.

Anonymous

This movie is like the Nickelodeon version of Escape from NY

Anonymous

also smoking sections holy shit what a time. I remember the smoking section era of restaurants. Whole place was engulfed like a great white show

Anonymous

Even when the general public had moved on from mini disks we used them in sound production for TV, great audio quality. They were great little things while they lasted.

Anonymous

Wow, I can't believe Stanger went ahead with the Chad fart story! This changes everything!

Prowsy

Has anyone here seen Rise of the Beasts? Do I need to see Bumblebee(2018) or is it a fresh start?

Prowsy

Right? I was born in 93, smoking sections in Ohio feel like a fever dream

Prowsy

Hadn't considered it but damn it's a beautiful dream

FiddlersGreenDay

After seeing Escape from New York, this was one of the first new Carpenters I was able to see when it was released. That and being 11 is, I think, why I liked it.

Adam Ross

I think it came too soon after CDs were mainstream and most people didn’t understand the technology vs the high price.

Anonymous

Been a while, but I remember Breakdown being an excellent thriller..

Seth Morton

One reason for Lynchburg is that it's the location of Liberty University -- Jerry Falwell, etc etc. It fits with the character of the president and the culture that the Boyz talk about re: televangilism. Also the name is just perfect for a dystopian hellscape. Great ep!

Anonymous

Hearing the boys talk about a movie with Stacy Keach made me think that I'd *love* if they covered Fat City on Shadow Wolves someday.

Anonymous

I literally got into basketball because of this movie 😂

Anonymous

Just want to remind everyone on the thread to check your drip today and #stayprayedup

Anonymous

I’m a pretty big Pearl Jam fan, but yeah that cover song the talk about is fucking AWFUL. It was a single that got radio play! Even when I was a kid I was baffled as to why it existed. My mom also liked Pearl Jam and knew the original song and hated both.

Anonymous

Leaving a note here to remind the boyz there is indeed demand for a live show <3

Anonymous

Shout out to Tool! I think this is the only movie with Tool in the Soundtrack.

Anonymous

Any other SPF 100 heads remember the ad for this movie running over and over again on Comedy Central? I saw Russell throw that can in the air so many times, and them leading with that really tells you what kind of movie it is.

Anonymous

Thank you for trashing Smartless. Please also talk more shit about Bill Simmons(although I fully agree with his Harry and Meaghan grifter take)

bloodflart

ALERT: Stanger said 'might have something you can watch soon' at the end of this episode. Get hype for video tier

Anonymous

If I never hear “Sweet Home Alabama” again it will be too soon.

From Parts Unknown

Robert Z'dar from Tango & Cash had cherubism. I believe this the 2nd time I've commented this, and now I feel it's my only purpose in life.

Jenn

If I dragged my husband to a live show he would be very excited to see the star of CollegeHumor’s 2011 sketch, “Book Club.” I wonder what color bandana he would be assigned for that

Sneakaboard

Action boys please do a live show from the Astoria Theater in tbe town where I was born and also they filmed goonies and kindergarten cop.

Anonymous

The fox and the hound.

Megan

Yes we need a code because I would have to drag mine too. Actionwives!!

Anonymous

Soldier is one of my favorite Kurt Russell movies… I’m scared to revisit it now 🤣

Matt Brown

I would probably weep in a Action boyz live show and get really depressed afterwards like tourists who get Paris Syndrome

Anonymous

The Queen Mary is in Long Beach not the OC

Adam Kronfeld

Just try to avoid Parris Island syndrome, where you get beat with pillowcases full of soap by your fellow Marine trainees

Anonymous

Wolverines backstory, post the James Howlett "Origin" reveal is all 1990's - 2000's edge lord bullshit pieced together from the rambles of college fanboy writers trying to be as cool as Frank Miller and Alan Moore...fucking Patch bro?

PaulieWalnuts

I would pay any premium to hear extended Ben Rodgers as friedkin. Sincerely. Its too good. I think I'm gonna write this comment until the Boyz give it a heart. I just need him to know how appreciated it is. It's so fucking funny. It legit reminds me of pft doing Herzog - it's just so on point

Alain Orozco

“Fox and the hound” 😂

Nick C.

Man, the French Connection edit thing...I don't think the line should have been cut, but if you search for it all the frothing-mouthed "CENSORSHIP!!!" articles are from dog-whistle "news" outlets who won't say what the excised line was, even redacted. Which immediately puts me in an "Am...I on the wrong side of this?" headspace.

Anonymous

For me Escape from LA is a faithful milestone, start of the whole disappointing sequel / remake / reimagining era which we cannot escape from.

Anonymous

“I can’t wait to do Breakdown” are words I’ve been dying to hear since the first day I listened to this podcast. If that was sarcasm I’m gonna be devastated

Will See

Hell yeah

Degrassi Knoll

Plot twist: Aaron Ghomes is now an Actionboy.

Anonymous

uh oh, I hope the IMDb/letterboxd/google mini summary didn’t spoil Night Game for me 😥. I saw the 1988 version of D.O.A. recently and it really reminded me of the podcast lol. Thank you for all the hours you put into making this show. It wasn’t convincing me to not watch Escape from L.A. tho…

Anonymous

Reboot was a sick show. I’m with Gabrus!
