In all likelihood, the novel SARS COV-2 virus was made in the Wuhan lab. As the ABZ even comment, the name of the lab and Occam's razor should be pretty telling. The crux of the argument then becomes why make such a virus in the first place, and the answer is not to say, test a country's response as Will Jipson suggests, but much more likely, just to try and treat something else. That lab was known to both the State dept and our own NIH for doing "Gain of function" research which is not a new concept. Essentially gain of function research is using viruses to alter the genes of cells or attack other pathogens, like bacteria, which viruses do all the time. Gain of function means a taking a virus that normally does x, and giving the ability to do y, or maybe x and y together. What if we could make a virus that killed cancer cells, or infected corn so that it could grow in hot weather without water, or made virus that infected fish making them resistant to algae blooms, or made coral resistant to rapid changes in water salinity and temperature. The best way to do that then would be to take a common virus that doesn't typically cause severe disease (like a corona virus) that has modifiable chemicals on the outside that we can change to infect new cells, targeting what we want. If you are reading this, you were likely infected by multiple corona viruses by the time you were one year old, but none of them effected you much because you had a great immune system and that specific corona virus was one that we evolved with naturally over centuries. When we edit things though, and give viruses new abilities, they become "novel", ie, something we didn't evolve with and our immune systems have never seen before. Sure there are lots of ways to change genes in cells, but lets say I want to give your lungs a new gene that they can use to fight lung cancer. Why not use a respiratory virus that already targets lung cells and I know has a proven history of reliably infecting the specific cells I want... a novel respiratory virus might be a good place to start. The issue then, Gabrus, is that gene editing technology is rapidly becoming cheaper, more accessible and more prevalent all the time, and China has a history of playing fast and loose with it, notably a few years back they jailed one of their scientists who was making human embryos without the HIV receptor, effectively making potential humans that could never get HIV. China doesn't stand anything to gain by saying they made it, and I think the issue is too political for any intelligence agency to say one way or the other, but the realities of this technology and what it could be used for could will have massive implications for viral research and our species as gene editing becomes more prevalent.

Man, shut the fuck up. The action boyz aren't implying that Occam's Razor is appropriate in this case. Save this dumb conspiracy shit for HaM episodes.

Johnny Tubesocks

Actually you’re wrong. Sorry it was me. I made covid. It was just a prank for my YouTube channel that got out of hand. Sorry bro.

In all likelihood, SARS COVID-2 was made in NavyDocV's weird shaped penis
