Appreciated the Alf talk from the Boyz. I subscribe to the Found Footage Festival channel on YouTube and one of the FFF guys is an Alf superfreak. He's been going episode-by-episode and just finished up the first season. His entire bedroom is Alf-ified. Truly a weirdo after my own heart.

Line dancing in 4th grade in Lincoln, Nebraska. Henry Ford was behind the push to make square dancing the official dance of every state for racism reasons.

Oregon had required square dancing in 4th and 7th grade.

In Alberta (the Texas of Canada) we did a dance unit in every year of PhysEd, beginning in 7th grade, that included square and line dancing. Right after doing the square dancing in 7th grade, one girl heard about a square dancing event in town and 4 of us decided to go. So us 4 loser 12-13 year old girls showed up one night to a gymnasium filled with elderly couples in fancy western wear, fucking hoop skirts and all... now it’s funny, but back then it was awkward but we were weird, so we rolled with it and danced the do-si-do with a bunch of people that are probably dead now because it was 2003.
