After all that, all Onizuka sees is an opportunity to get his hands on some celeb fakes. XD I guess back in 1998, people weren't as aware of Photoshop and such as we are now. This situation would probably have been cleared up a lot faster if it happened today. In fact, in the manga, it did clear up pretty quickly, the anime added a fair bit of stuff such as the cartoony antics of the vice principal, and Onizuka imagining his spirit leaving his body.
