(5:00): Don't forget that the reason why Subaru came to the Capital in the first place was to heal his gate. And he promptly further injured it more by using it in the fight against Julius. (5:15): The flag stuff is just some gaming stuff. Basically like when you choose a dialogue option in a game, it might set a flag, which it might use later on to do something different. Like if you told a character you hate them, the game might set a "hated" flag on them, and so when you see them the next time, they'll be angry at you instead of friendly. Subaru is basically worried that because he specifically commented on the unlikeliness of crazy shit happening in 2 months, that it might end up making it happen. (6:45): Otto currently has very little money, since he just recently spent all of his money on oil to sell in Gusteko (the nation to the north, where it is very cold). Unfortunately the road to Gusteko is closed off, so poor Otto has no where to sell his oil (oil isn't currently worth much in Lugunica because it's currently quite warm). So Otto needs to sell his oil to get back some of his money, and in S01E25, Otto offered to catch up to Emilia's carriage in exchange for something (that Subaru cut Otto off to immediately accept). Well, what Otto wanted was a buyer for his oil. So he wants to negotiate the price with Roswaal (the buyer) in person, so that he gets the best deal he can get. (8:50): This actually isn't the first time you've seen Frederica. She shows up and says a single line ("Why do you try so hard") in Rem's flashback in S01E11 (~8:00) (9:40): This is actually super interesting, because it shows how people getting erased from people memories creates paradoxes that you can identify. For instance, Emilia remembers that Ram has been the only maid for a number of years at the Roswaal mansion. She also remembers that Ram is mostly incompetent at most maid tasks. She also remembers the maids of the mansion being able to take care of the mansion properly (that the state of the mansion is only a problem as of now). These 3 things can't all be true, so she can deduce that at least one of them must be false, and reinforces what Subaru told her about Rem. It's just so interesting that you can actually logic out parts of what you can't remember. (10:45): Yep, Beatrice is a great spirit, since great spirits can materialize a physical form. (12:00): Notice that Subaru doesn't tell Beatrice what the book is (she seems to recognize it), and never describes who he got it from, just saying that he got it from an enemy. (16:30): The drinking age in Lugunica is 15 (this is from Memory Snow), which I presume is also the age of adulthood as well. (17:30): I think the Sanctuary is like 4-8 hours away by land dragon, so it's a good distance away. Also Roswaal is the lord of a region of Lugunica, hence why he can back Emilia in the Royal Selection. (20:50): Some cut (or really just not very apparent) content, Subaru wonders around lost in this building for a while (he has his hand on the wall to navigate so that he doesn't get lost in the maze) until he starts to have a panic attack due to him feeling like he was loosing control of his senses (due to the monotony), which then he remembers Rem's words, hence the quote from Echidna "I see. This is the desire that drives you." (22:20): Thank god you recognized that Echidna isn't Satella. Some reactors (usually the ones that don't pay much attention) see light hair and some relation to a witch and immediately go, this must be Satella. Despite it being mentioned a ton that Satella is the Witch of Envy, and this person literally gives a different name and a different sin. Also for reference, Emilia's hair is described as silver in the novels, Echidna's is white, and another character you'll see later in Season 2 has Platinum hair. That's one thing about the light novels, some things that are visually similar are unmistakably different in writing. (25:00): I really like that Re:Zero does this. Everyone's got stuff they want to hide (especially from people they don't know very well), and the characters of Re:Zero are no different.
