Man... Orsted sure is one hell of a presence. While I'm fascinated to learn more about his rivalry with the Man-God, I really wonder what the deal was with Orsted reviving Rudeus, or if it rather happened as a consequence of the Man-God possibly being able to let Rudeus respawn?  Who is to say for now...

Yes finally some Mushoku Tensei. The man-god didn't heal Rudeus, Rudeus's appearance in those dreams just reflects his own mental state. Regarding what Orsted did when he touched Rudeus: he actually destroyed Rudeus's lungs, because that usually makes magic casters helpless (they have to talk to cast magic), and they just die like that. Rudeus surprised him with his chantless magic (even if he couldn't heal his lungs, he can't use chantless healing magic). The other thing that surprised Orsted was the near limitless mana of Rudeus, indeed on par with Laplace. Of course, Rudeus remains physically slow, weak, and can't use super advanced spells (for now), so he's not as strong as Laplace was, but he has as much mana reserves, that's Rudeus' forte. In his last attack, he poured everything he had (since he had enough time to just charge his magic to the maximum, Orsted just let him somehow), but just immense raw magic power wasn't enough. Also it's not quite emphasized in the anime, but what happened here had a huge impact on Eris, she realized her powerlessness, her inability to protect Rudeus.

I think Eris talks about exactly that though! My memory is a little hazy as it's been a bit since I watched this but maybe in the next episode? And thanks for clearing things about Orsted and his magic! That was really helpful :)

Yeah that happens in episode 23, what episode are you on by the way? It would be interesting and funny to chat on discord about the episodes after you watch them haha

Oups my bad I forgot the last episode of the season yeah. Even then, I don't think it's as emphasized as in the novel or even the manga in which just after the battle you can see Eris more shocked and depressed, but that's just my impression.

I've been kinda unable to resist binging so I think I'm already 8 eps into Season 2 at this point! I didn't even realize the season would once again be split and we'll have to wait for the second half. Thinking of doing my final session for the last 4 episodes when the final episode for now has dropped
