The battle has officially begun. Still, I can't help but wonder how this situation could still be playing out differently. Is Arnheid actually dying? What could drive Thorfinn to go back and try to put a stop to it? And will Thorgil be successful now that he's this close to Canute?

I already wrote it before in another comment but I'm putting it here again just in case haha: the first season of Re:zero has an extended version called "director's cut" available on Crunchyroll and it's two episodes together plus new scenes that weren't in the first edition, I hope you're still in time to watch that version. I haven't seen the reaction yet but I'm sure it's great as always haha.

I just looked it up but the differences seem pretty minor no? Like a couple extended shots, two eps combined each time and that's about it from what I've been able to tell? Plus an extra scene that's included in season two anyway. I'm probably gonna wanna watch the original way so I can do reviews inbetween every 20min episode as that's the way I'll be uploading. Or am I missing something?

I honestly have no idea, I just started watching the series yesterday so I could see your reactions even though I had it on my list years ago. But, for example, Psycho-Pass is an anime that also has an extended version and in addition to the two episodes together it adds introspective scenes of the characters quite important to understand their developments and that you wouldn't want to miss, although I think it's not the same case with Re:Zero, hopefully someone who knows it will clarify it. In any case I think you wouldn't miss anything by watching the regular version, in this case.

Oh okay yeah I did look it up to be sure after your comment. Seems I can just go the regular route without worru but I would definitely go with the extended version in the case of something like Psycho Pass with the differences you described! That's another show I eventually need to get around to now that I think about it!
