The author of Made in Abyss actually has roots in videogames, he worked as a designer and animator for Konami prior to writing Made in Abyss, so it's not surprising that you already saw a couple of parallels to videogames in this episode.

I loved your Steins;Gate reactions and am so hyped for Made in Abyss! Hope you like the show as much as I did. There are so many good anime shows now that I think about it. Frieren and Mushoku Tensei were fantastic. Madoka Magica is also a masterpiece that I hope you will react to soon!
