garp 'hunting down' luffy was put in to the live action extremely early. in the manga/anime, garp's reveal as luffy's grandpa is way further down the line. koby is also not reintroduced into the story until garp's grandpa reveal which is in like the 300's

also in the anime, arlong does not show up at the baratie or interact with buggy, and mihawk is not contacted by garp, and baratie's villain was don krieg and his crew, which were the guys mihawk killed on the beach
