Ranga hangs out in Rimuru's shadow all the time. One time, when describing the positions of his main subordinates, Rimuru called him his emotional support pet...... Spirits represent the "good" side. A Hero gets the protection of the Spirits. It's why Rimuru was so confused that the Queen of Spirits was a Demon Lord. She did indeed "fall", I can't say how or why yet, so I could describe her as being on the "dark side". There's more to this, again, I can't explain it yet. As a result, though, she lost a lot of her strength, and goes through these repeated cycles of death and rebirth, but retains her memory. Yes, Leon was once a Hero. Now he's a Demon Lord. There is a fundamental balance between humans, represented by Heroes, and monsters/Majin (there are also demi-humans and beast people somewhere in between). Humans have a different physical and spiritual nature from monsters. Ramiris's purpose is to maintain this balance...... Ifrit is a spirit, but he's not evil. He's immature. Oddly, I think he's old, which is why he's so strong, but mentally, he's naive, unsubtle, and impulsive. He didn't understand the whole picture, and his sense of self is quite undeveloped. His relationship with Shizu was a struggle for dominance. His loyalty was to Leon.... No other reactor to Slime that I've seen was as interested in observing the environment of the Labyrinth as you were. Just shows that there are differences between people, there will always be people who are outliers.
