Little Joe actor Brandon deWilde plays John Wayne's son in the WWII movie In Harm's Way 1965.

I forgot that Ben Johnson was in this movie till I heard his voice. A real horseman who had a long career in Hollywood.

Dawn, this is us. You get this movie, you get who we are as Americans. Keep thinking about the story, and when you realize he had to ride off and not stay, you're there. Even the filming location is considered hallowed ground, although not just because of this movie. Thanks for watching it.

Jimmy Walker

To me he stoled the show in the Calvary movies. Even the scenes with just him and John Wayne in the shot.

Alan Ladd was one of the shortest leading men in Hollywood. Also, I like that Jean Arthur was born in 1900 so I always know how old she is in movies. Like Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) she was 39, and The Devil and Miss Jones (1941) she was 41, in this one she was 53, well, depending on when her birthday was, I guess.

Hey Dawn, if you’re searching for Christmas movies to fill out December with, please consider “Edward Scissorhands” (1990) Directed by Tim Burton. Don’t know if you’ve ever seen a Tim Burton film Dawn but I’m sure you’ve heard of him. “Edward Scissorhands” is Tim Burton’s most personal film and perfect for Christmas.

Dawn, the villain gunfighter was played by Jack Palance (pronounced like 'balance'). He was nominated for a Best Supporting Oscar for this role. Much later in life, he finally won that Oscar and several other awards for his role in City Slickers- a great Western comedy. Please watch City Slickers 1 + 2.

And don’t forget Jack Palance as a baddie in Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman.

So is Shane dying at the end? Discuss

Bartleby

Yeah I don’t believe he dies at the end. The way the story is set up and the entire speech at the end is about Shane resisting engaging in violence because he wanted to leave the life of violence behind him and live a life of peace. When he’s forced to do what he does at the end, he talks about reputation and knows he will forever be the man of violence in town and the one who will be called upon when violence rears its ugly head. And that’s not the life he’s trying to live anymore. I know there are a lot of people who fervently believe he dies at the end. Except the characters internal struggle and entire speech at the end to the little boy doesn’t have any meaning or relevance if he just rides off to slump over and die.

Ellen Corby plays Torrey’s wife in Shane. She’s the hotel manager in Vertigo who claims not to have seen Madeleine. Corby has a role in I Remember Mama (1948), a wonderful family movie featuring Barbara Bel Geddes ("Midge" in Vertigo as Stewart’s friend) and Irene Dunne is the mama.
