Movie Run Time: 2:15:46

You will need your own copy of the movie to watch along! 😁

This was meant to be Unforgiven, however a few of you suggested I should watch a few more classic Clint Westerns before diving into it. So that's exactly what I've done and I'm so glad I did 😍

I know I've been neglecting you guys a bit this past week, I'm still not 100% and am trying to take things a bit slower for a wee bit! Don't worry though, I will get round to replying to your messages, and uploads will still be coming out!

Thank you for your patience and sticking around, and also for your continued support, it's so so so soooo appreciated 🥰

Awesome Dawn! Good to see you in good spirits and celebrating great cinema. And you 100% made the right call in holding off on “Unforgiven” Yes the film is a brilliant classic. But so is “The Outlaw Josey Wales” And if you actually take the time to explore Clint Eastwood’s various westerns from his youth as you are doing now, “Unforgiven” will be so much more satisfying and cathartic an experience for you. And you will be in a class all your own Dawn among all the movie reaction channels. Most reaction channels jump straight to “Unforgiven” without having seen any other Clint Eastwood film before. You started things right by starting with The Dollars trilogy. Now continue things proper exploring Eastwood’s westerns. And “Unforgiven” will mean so much more to you Dawn Marie than all those other movie reactors.

Darrell Palmer

This is one of my all time favorite movies. I can't wait to watch it. 👍😀

So glad you watched this first since so many reactors jump straight to Unforgiven, but before you watch Unforgiven, please react to Pale Rider (1985), it falls right between Josey Wales (1976) and Unforgiven (1992), and they were the only 3 westerns that Clint did between 1976 and 1992, and I still think he is playing basically the same character in all 3 movies, just at 3 different points in his life. Please watch Pale Rider before Unforgiven and let us know what you think, plus Pale Rider is such a good movie.

Glad you're doing better! As you may notice, the Hollywood machine had a couple of camps when it came to "Union vs Confederate" depictions. Some emphasized the slavery aspects, and others portrayed the south as noble underdogs against the evils of the federal govt. This was clearly the latter. It is during Clint Eastwood's prime as a celebrity actor doing things like "Dirty Harry" etc. But if you want to see him early in his celebrity, you'd need to watch a 1959-65 TV series called Rawhide. He played a drover called Rowdy Yates. (He was barely shaving then)😉

Historically certain extreme factions of the north did do horrific things to the south and in particular southern civilians. Lot of pillaging, raiding, and raping. A matter of historical fact that this happened in excessive and extreme numbers. Even the movie Glory which was all slavery focused narrative showed some of this. Why shouldn’t this aspect of history be dramatized and shown as well. Granted, this film would probably never get made today. That’s not the faults of the film. It’s the faults of our deranged times.

I’m so glad you watched this movie, one of my all-time favorites, and my favorite Clint Eastwood movie. Sheb Woolley, who played Travis (one of the guys buried to his head) starred with Clint in the TV series RAWHIDE back in the 60’s. He was also a singer and is best known for his song THE PURPLE PEOPLE EATER. If you ever watched the TV show SEINFELD, Abe, the bounty hunter who Josey shot was played by Len Lesser, who played Uncle Leo on SEINFELD.

Josey Wales was actually chewing on beef jerky, I believe, and that was the juice he kept spitting. Sondra Locke who played Laura Lee was actually 31 during this movie, her and Clint fell in love during the making of Josey Wales and were together until around 1988 and they starred in 6 movies together. There is a very very long biography on IMDB on Sondra Locke's page, including all the post break-up drama that went on for at least a decade.

Glad to see you are feel good better Dawn! One of my all time favorite movies (not just a western). Chief Dan George was absolutely brilliant in this film! I will watch this full reaction with you, just gotta grab my copy of the movie.

Just finished watching. I loved watching this one again with you Dawn ironically snuggled up in bed wearing the same pyjamas as you lol. I have been feeling terrible for the last week as my entire nervous system is essentially wrecked but I always feel better when I get to watch a movie with you even if we're not really togther in the same place. I hope you're feeling better and I can't wait to see the next instalment. xxx

Hunter DeRensis

Dawn, if you're looking for great westerns that don't star either Clint Eastwood or John Wayne, then I highly recommend Quigley Down Under (1990) or Crossfire Trail (2001) starring Tom Selleck, or Broken Trail (2006) with Robert Duvall and Thomas Haden Church, or The Quick and the Dead (1987) starring Sam Elliott.

Bubba Fett

Sam and tom make some great westerns, great together in shadow riders

This is both my favorite western and probabaly one of the best civil war related movies there are. Two more worth looking into for Clint before going to unforgiven, high em high and two mules for sister Sarah. Some of my favorite Wayne westerns are sons of Katy elder and rio lobo. Hannie caulder will give you a nice female protagonist.

Mr. Writhms

Oh WOW, this is great! I hope you've done (or will be doing) "High Plains Drifter" (1973) and "Pale Rider" (1985) as well. Then I will be a most happy man. 😉👌
