Movie Run Time: 1:31:47

You will need your own copy of the movie to watch along! 😁

I'm back home! Thank you everyone so much for your lovely comments 🥰 Not quite 100% yet, but getting there! I've not put up a 'What's Coming Up' post as I'm not sure when videos will be out this week, but bear with me and it'll be back to normal in no time!

Anyway, Clerks, emmm.... yeah, I'll just leave it at that 🤣

There is a Clerks II and III (I haven't seen III) You don't have to do or watch anything you don't want to ofc. This movie may well be, for its time, the lowest-budget film you'll ever see. It was in black and white I think for budgetary reasons. It made enough money for Kevin Smith to make more movies. He played Silent Bob. Edit > Just remembered there was a Clerks cartoon show as well lol. I only saw a few of those. Way more tame than the movies. I actually live maybe a half hour drive from those two stores. Drove by once and was like 'whoop-dee-doo', no big deal lol. Love your reactions. Hope you feel better. Good to see you are home.

So Silent Bob was actually the writer and director of the film, Kevin Smith. He made this film DIY with friends for 27,000 dollars charged mostly on credit cards. This is true independent filmmaking in the purest sense of the word. There were no professional actors in the film, at least no actor who was making a living that way. The steel shutters were closed because they filmed in the store in the middle of the night when the store would normally be closed. The store was a normal store in the days. Kevin Smith worked there. The strangeness you’re picking up on is brushing the edges of indie art house filmmaking. There’s some fun stuff to explore in this era of independent filmmaking for sure. Some of it can be perplexing.

This film had a budget of less than $30,000 which is why it’s in black & white. It was a less expensive film. I’d recommend watching his next two films Mallrats and Chasing Amy. The latter is arguably his best. Though I personally love Dogma. Believe it or not, his later movies are far stranger than this and not in a good way. I always love your reactions. Glad you’re feeling better.

This is basically The Breakfast Club 7 years later, when the latchkey kids became the Gen X adults, and started to realize that there were some things in life that you had to take care of, but honestly we did not give a rats ass still. It is a classic due to it's quirky humor, but it really only resonates with a certain demo that lived the times.
