Lt. Dike was -- I think -- just taking long walks, maybe also napping (the yawning...). >>EDIT! It seems I'm wrong. I believe Tim Klug's comment after the YouTube Early Access post.<< Whatever. He was gone after that, replaced by Lt. Spears, and the newly commissioned Lt. Lipton would spell Buck Compton, who reached his breaking point. You made it through the hardest two eps to watch (imo). I can't say the rest are 'Easy' to watch (see what I did there), but nowhere near as tough as 6 & 7. I don't want to say more. Someone else may.

I and some others I've heard found ep 9 hardest to watch, that in no way lessens the effect of watching characters you have "come to know" enduring that level of trauma.

Muck said he swam across the river 10 miles up from the falls, which would put him in the vicinity of the present day town of Blairville, and the river would have been in the neighborhood of 765 meters wide. there have been people who have gone OVER the falls (insanity, in my opinion) and apparently (thus sayeth the internet), 16 people actually survived that.....the drop from the top of the falls to the bottom is some 52 meters, not an insignificant height to fall from under any circumstances.....

Winters: "You know what Dike's problem is, right? He's just another one of those arrogant rich jerks from Yale." Nixon: "Oh god, not another one of those." That was an in-joke between Winters and Nixon... Nixon was a rich guy from Yale.
