John Hughes has come out on top of our first 'Directors Cut' poll 😊 I never realised, until a few of you commented, that John didn't direct that many films. He wrote more than he directed. So, to make it up to ten choices I've included three movies that he wrote; National Lampoon's Vacation, Some Kind of Wonderful and Career Opportunities.

Someone mentioned he wrote Home Alone, but considering I've seen that about 8,000 times I'll not include it 🤣 And of course, I've just recently watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off!

You can vote for as many or as few as you like from the list below, with the voting ending on Thursday the 11th. Once the voting is over, I'll announce the top three and the order I plan to watch them in. If I need to watch them in a certain order, just let me know 😁

As much as PT&A is the closest Hughes ever came to a comedy where we, or even he, cared about the characters, Hughes still started out as a National Lampoon writer, and if you can’t watch the original Animal House, Vacation is the next best thing. Except, of course, he didn’t direct that one, Ghostbusters’ Harold Ramis did.

Dawn, the watch order we ALL enjoyed in theaters was by release date. That is what I'd still recommend to this day. National Lampoon's Vacation (1983), then The Breakfast Club (1985) and finally Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (1987). It's the most natural flow of progression in John Hughes style, skills, writing and character development as each new film came out later. You also meet Anthony Michael Hall(starring) & John Candy(in a cameo) in National Lampoon's Vacation. Anthony Michael Hall also stars in The Breakfast club in a new & better role. Finally John Candy is the star & opposite Steve Martin in Planes Trains, & Automobiles. Good fun all around for you, Dawn! :)
