"What's his name in this, actually, I have no idea?" Funny thing to say while watching the Man with no Name trilogy.

The Man with No Name is actually called Joe in this movie's dialogue (by Piripero) and in the closing credits.

Fantastic reaction, Dawn. I enjoyed it very much. Clint Was 34 years old when he made this movie and it was his first leading role. The Man with No Name is actually called Joe in this movie's dialogue (by Piripero the Undertaker) and in the original closing credits (which are missing from the US release). Clint Eastwood's character is actually called many things in the films of the Dollars Trilogy, but it is clear that none of them is his real name, which he never reveals. Clint Eastwood's contract for the TV series Rawhide (1959 - 1965) prohibited him from making movies in the United States while on break from the series. However, the contract did allow him to accept movie assignments in Europe. Originally called "The Magnificent Stranger", the title wasn't changed to "A Fistful of Dollars" until almost three days before the movie premiered in theatres. In fact, nobody had bothered to inform Clint Eastwood of the change, and as a result, Eastwood remained virtually unaware of the positive buzz surrounding the movie until an agent pointed it out to him in a Variety Magazine article three weeks later. Since all of the footage was filmed silently, Clint Eastwood did not add his voice to the soundtrack until 1967, when the movie was prepared for U.S. release. Marianne Koch (Marisol) was a huge star in her native Germany so it was somewhat of a surprise when she agreed to appear in this movie in what is essentially a non-speaking role. (She has one line of dialogue in this movie.) As others have mentioned this is a remake of Yojimbo (1961). Another remake is Last Man Standing (1996) starring Bruce Willis.
