Lmao I've never seen so many misunderstandings in one reaction.

Awesome reaction, Dawn. I really loved it. The movie (and the graphic novels on which it is based) are fictionalized retellings of the Battle of Thermopylae in the Greco-Persian Wars. The Battle of Thermopylae was fought in 480 BC between the Achaemenid Persian Empire under Xerxes I and an alliance of Greek city-states led by Sparta under Leonidas I. The second Persian invasion under Xerxes I was a delayed response to the failure of the first Persian invasion, which had been initiated by Darius I and ended in 490 BC by an Athenian-led Greek victory at the Battle of Marathon. The Battle of Thermopylae is often taught to military strategists as an example of the advantages of training, equipment, and good use of terrain as force multipliers. To adequately present themselves as the most well-trained and marshalled fighting force of the time, the entire principal cast underwent a rigorous 8-week training regime organized by Marc Twight, a world-record-holding professional mountain climber. Actors never repeated the same exercise twice, preventing the body from adapting to any one type of exertion. Gerard Butler has said that the training was the most difficult thing he has ever had to do in his life. When it was over, Twight admitted that he pushed the actors as hard as he's ever pushed anyone before, including himself. After being killed by Queen Gorgo, Theron (the Politician) is found to have a bag of Xerxes gold on him, proving he had been bribed by the God-King. The deformed Ephors were also bribed by Xerxes and were ordered to prevent the Spartan army from marching to war. Leonidas' final words to Ephialtes, "May you live forever," are an insult against the hunchback's desire to be a Spartan, whose greatest glory is to die on the battlefield. After the events at Thermopylae, the word "ephialtes" entered the Greek language, meaning "nightmare," or to describe someone as the ultimate traitor. The spear thrown by Leonidas may have not have killed Xerxes but it did slice his face and make him bleed, proving that he was not a god but a mortal man. Many of the conquered nations that were forced to serve him actually rebelled against him because of this. The quote, "Then we will fight in the shade," is from the Spartan warrior Dienekes when warned about the enemies' arrows blotting out the sun. It is also on modern Greek soldiers' uniforms. I do not know if you have watched the sequel (because I am playing catch up after my absence) but 300: Rise of an Empire (2014) is also worth a watch. The Battle of Thermopylae was also shown on film in the earlier movie The 300 Spartans (1962).
