The dude abides

I love this movie and Jeff Bridges is another of my favourite actors. This is actually one of the John Goodman movies I suggested in my Raising Arizona comment. A steer is a male bovine that cannot reproduce. Maude hit the dude in the jaw and used this as an excuse to send him to her doctor. She stated the doctor was very thorough. She wanted him to be examined to make sure he was fertile and healthy to be the father of the child she wanted. It's possible that the exam could have included a virility exam. A lot of the Dude's clothes in the movie were Jeff Bridges's own clothes, including his Jellies sandals, which he still owns and uses to this day. The Dude's line, "The Dude abides", is a reference to Ecclesiastes 1:4, "One generation passes away, and another generation comes: but the Earth abides forever." It is a reference to how the Dude, much like the Earth, can weather change and chaos around him, but still remain the same. There is a religious movement based on the Dude: "The Church of the Latter-Day Dude". Recipe for making a White Russian (or a "Caucasian" as The Dude calls it): two parts vodka, one part coffee liqueur (such as Kahlúa), and one part cream. Served with ice in a lowball glass. Several of the blu-rays I have sent to you feature Jeff Bridges and John Goodman. Steve Buscemi who played Donny is great in Fargo (1996) which you also have on blu-ray.
