So far I recognise two of the bands, Dexy's Midnight Runners and Madness. I'm surprised you've never heard of Madness, they return in series 2. The episode "Bambi" has another great band perform. I think you're going to watch Groundhog Day. Do I get free Patreon membership now? 😁

Suddenly Frogs

The blonde haired friend of Rik's, who calls Father Christmas a facist, is Jennifer Saunders, Ade Edmondson's wife (Viv) and the 'Christian' killed by the sandwich is Dawn French. They're both in pretty much all the Comic Strip Presents with all but Mike, the Young Ones was partly made possible by Comic Strip's 'Bad News Tour' and 'More Bad News' with Rik, Ade, Nigel and Peter (You don't know him) as a struggling and crap heavy metal band that a documentary focusses on. In the second one they actually play at Donnington in front of thousands of angry fans. Comic Strip is awesome, like The Ripping Yarns (Palin) it's hardly ever talked about despite being brilliantly funny.
