I'm not coping. Finishing Fawlty Towers yesterday and now finishing The Lord of the Rings 😢 These three films were simply incredible, and with such a beautiful ending 😊

Awesome job on the map, Dawn. That's almost exactly the geographic layout of Middle Earth. Peter Jackson nailed it with these films. All the visuals and characters either met or exceeded everything I imagined when I read the books years before.

In one of your LOTR reactions you asked for other fantasy films worth watching. Sadly there aren't too many. Most fantasy films are made for children or by producers and directors who don't really understand or appreciate the genre of adult fantasy. However... "Beauty and the Beast" 1946 (La Belle et la Bête). Written and directed by the great Jean Cocteau, this is a brilliant and beautiful adaptation of the fairy tale. The adaptation, direction, and art direction are stunning. The performances of Jean Marais, as the Beast, and Josette Day, as Belle, are very moving. "Beauty and the Beast" is recognized as a classic of French cinema. Jean Cocteau was one of France's greatest artists and intellectuals. A poet, playwright, novelist, designer, filmmaker, visual artist and critic, he was one of the most influential figures in early 20th-century art. You'll also enjoy these two Jim Henson films: "The Dark Crystal" (1982). Directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz of The Muppets, the characters of the film are all puppets, but not Muppets. It is proper heroic fantasy, just with puppets. The art direction is beautiful as you would expect from Henson. "Labyrinth" (1986) Also directed by Jim Henson, it stars Jennifer Connelly and the late David Bowie as the Goblin King. There are also lots of puppets, some scary some amusing, It is a more typical fantasy movie than is The Dark Crystal.

I have Labyrinth on the list but not the others. I was actually planning Labyrinth as part for Film-mas but decided against it last minute.
