Episode Run Time: 31:18

You will need your own copy of the show to watch along! 😁

They just keep getting better! Manuel's 'I know nothing!' is my new favourite phrase 🤣

Yet another great reaction to a brilliant episode. Thanks, dawn. Terry the chef was introduced in series 2 because Cleese and Booth thought the hotel looked understaffed. Cleese advised Brian Hall to play him as if he was being sought by the police for an unspecified crime, hence Terry's sometimes skittish behaviour. The first season was broadcast in 1975. The second series was transmitted three-and-a-half years later, with the first episode being broadcast on 19 February 1979. The gap between the seasons was due mainly to Connie Booth being initially unwilling to collaborate on a second series, even before the divorce. John and Connie were married in 1968 and divorced in 1978 before production of the second season began.

Haha I actually did wonder if I completely missed there being a chef in the first season! I was trying to look for signs of them being separated throughout but couldn’t spot any 🤷🏼‍♀️ professional actors! 😁 Still gutted the hotel is no longer here 😔 I would have loved to visit it.

Bit late to the party on this and it may have been answered on YouTube - the conversation with the Major: first you need to know Winston Churchill was nicknamed "Winnie", then that Winnie (Winifred) Atwell is the name of a Trinidadian ragtime pianist popular in the UK in the 1950s. It's some clever wordplay once you know.
