Clint Eastwood sat on this story for years until his face was all craggily. He knew exactly when to make it. Such a fabulous ending shootout.

Bartleby

Unforgiven shares a lot in common with the John Ford western, “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” The mythologizing of the old west. Liberty Valance was about the myth the public knew about how Valance was killed. Then there was the true story. Unforgiven has the writer character who is out collecting stories and mythologizing the old west and some ruthless killers. The end in the bar when Eastwood shows up, there’s a shot of the writer looking on with this look of disbelief in his eyes. Because he knows he is witnessing a legendary night that capped off a saga that will go down as folk history.

Bartleby

Oh, and yes the character of the writer was in True Romance, the big time movie producer buying the coke. What you missed though Dawn, was another actor from True Romance who was also in this film. The actress who played the sex worker who got scarred up. Her name is Anna Thomson She was the girl at the bar in the beginning of True Romance who Christian Slater’s character tried to pick up, but gets rejected by. The first scene of the movie. This actress is also in another alltime beloved cult classic “The Crow” (1994) I hope you watch this one some time.
