Here are some quirky ones that I like to recommend, ' Hero (2002) - Chinese, action/adventure ' The Host (2006) - Korean, a quirky family vs rampaging creature ' Hard Boiled (1992) - Hong Kong, action/detective ' Bandits (1997) - German, a rock 'n' roll road adventure ' Solaris (1972) - Soviet, sci-fi ' Baahubali (2015) - Indian, action/fantasy ' The Hidden Fortress (1958) - Japanese, Kurosawa, sure why not ' Rampo, The Mystery of (1994) - Japanese

"Don't Torture a Duckling" (1972) is not only excellent moral guidance, but also the title of a totally bonkers Italian film that has been a big influence on Tarantino. I'm sure you would love it!

Yojimbo (1961, Japanese) a Samurai movie directed by Akira Kurosawa, starring Toshiro Mifune. And then later, you can watch the exact same story, remade three years later into a Western: A Fistful of Dollars (1964) directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood.
