Last year I went away on retreat for a whole month, left my real world life behind to regroup, renew and reset.  The retreat was located in a 'caldera', the depression left behind after a volcano erupts and the resulting landscape is breathtaking. One incredible aspect of the caldera is the bed of rose quartz that it lays upon.  Rose quartz is known for fostering feelings of unconditional love and self compassion.

Each week, I was able to walk through a private forest of trees to a local river, where I found many pieces of rose quartz in the river bed.  It was here that I first learned about this book, The Hidden Life of Trees and have wanted to read it ever since.

In the next couple of weeks I am going to return to this sacred place and perhaps I'll take my field mic and read from the river side.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land the Ngarakbal and Githabul people and pay my respects to their Elders past and present.

A weekly reading from the Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben.  Join me for a casual, unedited reading for you to pop in your ears and enjoy.
