The attached image depicts a consensual roleplay scenario starring my own original characters.

Wossy and Aeria should'a known better than to leave Sylvia and Ana off the guest list... buuut, I guess all's well that ends well!

---

My mind is still blown. Five years of your support! Thank you all so, so much for letting me do this. ಥ_ಥ

However, I shall now proceed to ruin this moment of celebration with an unfortunate update:

I can't deny that the latter half of this Patreon's existence has been spent with me being constantly behind on my commitments to you. Seeing all those "(incomplete)" tags on the Dropbox Master List is really embarassing. I've spent all this time letting my ego say "it's okay, I'll just work harder and catch up, I can handle it" but the reality is that every time I try to turn things up a notch, I just get burnt out and then end up lagging behind even further. I've finally got to accept that I'm just not able to juggle all the stuff I've consistently been over-promising and under-delivering on, and with that in mind I'm sorry to announce that November and December 2021 will be the final instances of the Monthly Fanart Vote, with no new votes taking place in 2022.

I will of course still finish all the winners still waiting to be drawn, so as always, please bookmark all of the existing Dropbox links so that you can see the winning pieces for those months when they are completed, even if you reduce or outright cancel your pledge in the future.

I expect to lose a lot of you with this news, since I have no alternative 'sidegrade' to balance out one of the core perks of your subscription being cut. It's a definite drop in bang-for-your-buck, and as such I'll absolutely understand if this Patreon no longer holds enough value for you to stay pledged. Especially those of you who've been here since the start - you've given me so much already.

In conclusion, thank you for supporting me for as long as you have. I'm still proud of what we've been able to make together so far, and it wouldn't have been possible without you. For those who will accompany me into the future, here's to a hopeful Year 6!

Can I be frank? Good. I was hoping that you would do something like this. You just focus on catching up man, the stuff you’re putting out is gold and I’ll happily spend 2022 watching you work through the backlog

KittyCali

I'm still new to this Patreon, but I understand burn out and it sucks. It's a lot better to take the time to take it easy rather than trying to push through. It gives your brain time to relax and enjoy your passion.

I mean...... suits me. I always thought you seemed to have a pretty heaped plate artistically and I was kinda wondering if you'd be needing to put on the brakes a bit. I appreciate that you tried this long, and that you're being honest! Dial it back a notch and proceed at not-insane levels, it's cool.

Happy anniversary

Sounds like a smart move for your own creative and mental health. It's been a great 5 years so far, and seeing you get to crawl out from under a backlog and have a lot more fun on projects you enjoy will be worth following into Year 6 and beyond!

TheMask237

To be completely honest, while I always enjoyed your fan art pieces, the main draw of your artwork (pardon the pun) has always been the Wossy and Aeria stuff for me. I'll go ahead and stick around. :)

iceman13

I agree with TheMask237...as long as Wossy keeps tieing Aeria up in something shiny, I'll be here to enjoy it! ;>)

Congrats. ^^ I can totally understand that easing the workload a little is a good way to stave off the threat of burnout. You're still delivering some of the best content out there.

Congrats on 5 years! With the fanart vote, it is perfectly understandable, and I would rather you draw stuff from a happy place than a stressful one. With that being said I do have some questions on the content-feed down the line: Once you've finished the backlog, how do you think the content-feed for a month will look? The vote was at the very least a constant in terms of content and a way to ensure that each month would have at least something. Do you think that your natural pace of work will match this, or would it be likelier that there will be dry months to go with the larger ones? Granted (without sounding too crass) the backlog has already kinda enforced this, but in hindsight this would get balanced. Lastly, will this affect you drawing non-OCs? I would assume not that much, but like before, the vote was a way to get a (somewhat, some were more popular than others) regular rotation of characters. Not that it matters too much to me, Wossy and Aer are very nice on their own, but variation is the spice of life and all that. Anyhow, looking forward to the future content.

Spelt Wrong, but right.

And here is to another successful 5 more years. One by one, we will see you grow and continue plenty more.

Wossa

Ideally, the time that would previously have been spent on fanart pics could now instead go towards things like Lucky Draws, which I'm able to pump out much faster and are usually still very well received by everyone. So in the long run, I'd aim to still be putting out as much, if not more pictures per month despite the lack of vote-born pieces, hopefully. However, the first few dropboxes of 2022 *are* inevitably going to end up quite dry since I'll still be chugging through 2021's backlog during that time. That'll be the 'transition period' in which I'd totally understand people pausing pledges for a while. With regards to non-OCs, the votes *were* a good way to expand my comfort zone and force me to learn a few techniques, poses, binding types etc. Plus I still have plenty of favourites and childhood crushes that I'll happily draw unprompted - stuff like the Totally Spies fake screencap was pre-votes. And... it would be tragically ironic if I were to become a 100% WossyAer factory and then get burnt out on my own OCs! ಥ‿ಥ So yeah, I'm sure I'll still do the odd fanart here and there to keep things fresh, both for myself and for you guys. Thanks!

Wossa

Thank you! Sorry it took so long for me to get to this decision. I'll do my best to make the backlog wait have been worth it!

Wossa

Hi, and thanks! Sorry to dump this essay on a new Patron! :p

Wossa

Thanks! It's a shame that I kept sputtering along at you guys' expense, but I'm really hopeful about finding a nice balance in the long run where everyone still gets plenty of fun stuff.

Wossa

Yep, hopefully this all develops into a better balance. Thank you for the support and encouragement!

Wossa

Thank you! Of course, those two won't be going anywhere - we've got mountains of rope and tape to ensure that!

Wossa

Thanks! Shiny is love, shiny is life - shiny is definitely not going away! ;)

Wossa

Thanks, very much appreciated and I hope to still be worthy of that praise in the future!

Wossa

Thank you! The well of ideas still runs deep, so I'll keep at this for as long as I'm able to!

Alysha

Totally understand running oneself ragged and honestly, I will continue to support you Wossa!! I adore everything you post so just do what you need to and your loyal fans will be here!

Wossa

Thank you, much appreciated! I'll still try my best to make it worth it on your end.

jam-orbital

Congrats on five years! Totally understand how you feel about keeping up with polls and don't blame you at all for the decision to ax them. Drawing stuff for Patreon is really fun and rewarding, but the constant pressure can be exhausting. Take care of yourself dude 💪

LustDiD Harem

Honestly, man? I don't blame you in the slightest. That's actually the reason that led me to axe my old Patreon account and start from scratch with another one that'd give much more focus to my OC-verse (with yet room for occasional fanart pieces). Burnout is definitely the worse enemy of us artists. Besides, I'll be honest: I barely take place on any poll at all. I'm usually too busy or forgetful to even notice them until they're over. So, to me, this is no bad news, neither reason to stop my support to you. Keep up the good work, and most importantly, keep enjoying what you do!

Wossa

Hope the new approach is working out for you, and I hope to follow suit! Thanks!
