Pheeeewwww!

I have to apologize again, it's taken so long to get to this point... but the hard part is over. Inking is much easier than composing the panels and drawing the poses in the first place, since it's just tracing my own work, and unless plans change, Sui is going help with the flats so we can get a nice little conveyor belt going of me sending inks to him as soon as they're done.

Phew.

So, a bit horrible of me to end on a cliffhanger, right? ;) It's not that big a deal, though. Aer's just butthurt that Wossy has been keeping secrets from her, which I'd say is a pretty valid reason for playing the WE NEED TO TALK card. I don't plan to make this a super-deep comic with intertwining stories and whatnot - I'm a fan of episodic content, where you can just pick up a single issue and get caught up right away. (Especially with a comic of this nature, where, for instance, someone might not like straitjackets so they won't grab issue 2. Maybe they're arachnophobic so they won't get the "giant spider" issue, when that happens. And so on.) But with this issue introducing two, technically three, new characters, plus a bunch of worldbuilding, there's just no space left for Wossy to explain herself.

Also, hey, no longer Short&Lanky! Though there's nothing to say we can't continue to use those as codenames. :p I went back through the suggested names from when they were first unveiled and really enjoyed the suggestion that Short has something real fancy that she's embarrassed about. She probably makes people call her Ann, Ana, or maybe Stacy or Stace. But "NEVER ANASTASIA!!". And Sylvia has that nice, 'slinky' effect to it. It fits very well with a slender lady.

I love that note of character drama you slipped in right there at the end! I'm so used to them being carefree together that it was a bit of a shock to see that not all is well in the house of Aer, but it is a very good kind of shock. Like a suckerpunch of intrigue. It really helps ground them as characters. Aer just went through a truly scary ordeal after all. I think a lot of comics would very easily hop down the "Aaand hooray everything is great and we're jokey again" path for the ending, but your tone here is much better, has extra depth, sold even further by those cutting facial expressions of the last panel. I'd definitely love to see more 'real' Aer and Wossy like this! Episodic installments being what they are may discourage you from following that too much, for the sake of people not getting lost who didn't read last issue and all, but I hope it doesn't get completely left to be settled offstage. All in all- really well done! Not exactly surprising for the likes of you, but nonetheless true!

She might not be Lanky any more, but she still has a funny face.
