I wouldn't be pleased to be selected by United like this, especially when it is United's own fault, but there shouldn't be privilege either. 'I'm a doctor therefor I am a higher class of citizen. Remove one of the plebeians.' There are other doctors and his patients would have their health ensured by whatever hospital or clinic he worked from. Besides, in my experience, getting re-accommodated they often give you a free seating bump up. Example I got re-accommodated from a flight from LAX to Boston Logan. I lost my economy seat and slept the night on the ground, then got on a new flight in a first class seat. I lost about 12 hours but gained significantly in comfort to offset my 'inconvenience'. No issues with the system here.
