I hate de CCP, but trying to be on the side of democracy, why is ok for the Ukraninan that have russian ethnicity and language to be bombed and killed? if it is wrong for the Chinese government to do it to certain ethinicities in China, why is ok for the Ukraninan of the western side to do it to the ukranians on the estern side?... I'm totally ok with the USA and the western power to defend Taiwan from China, because Taiwan is the democratic (good side here), but in the case of Ukrain, the bad side is not Russia, but the government of Ukrain... don't you think? if , I'm wrong, can you please explain?

In the case of Ukraine and the Donbas regions, there were no targeted murder of ethnic russians. There was/is a civil war started by Russia in the region which led to fighting and unfortunately, civilians death in the cross fire. According to the UN, the civil war which lasted from 2014 to 2022, killed about 3900 civilians. This is bad but it's half the military death and average 42 civilian deaths per month. That's very far from a targeted campaign to eliminate ethnic russians. To give context, the South Sudan civil war lasted 1 year less and killed about twice the amount of military personnel (there's no available information I could find on the rebel side) but killed about 180 000 civilians from violent causes and 190 000 from other causes. Those numbers come Reuters in 2018, a year and a half before the end of the conflict.
