45:40 The U.S. does not need Russian Uranium. We have a lot of Uranium 233 stored with Thorium at the Oakridge National Lab in Tennesee. It is left over from the Molten Salt Reactor project that was run there from 1954 to 1975. Since 2012, a number of companies have sprung up in the U.S. (and elsewhere) that are developing MSR technology as a safe and practical revisioning of nuclear energy. That stockpile represents enough of the right form of Uranium to seed MSRs for long into the future. But because of the negative vision caused by the past problems with Light Water Uranium Reactors, (Chornobyl, Fukushima), the DOE had turned on nuclear energy in general and has been destroying that stockpile. The breakdowns have always been around cooling failures. MSRs use molten salt as the fuel carrier and coolant. The chemistry and physics involved molten salt self-regulates. IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT LIGHT WATER REACTORS USE PRESSURIZED WATER IN ORDER TO GET TO THE TEMPERATURES REQUIRED FOR FUNCTION. MOLTEN SALT REACTORS DO NOT HAVE TO BE PRESSURIZED TO REACH THE HIGH TEMPERATURES REQUIRED. Companies such as Flibe Energy, Terrapower, ThorCon, and others are close to producing power-generating LFTR (Liquid Flouride Thorium Reactor). LFTRs can be used to cheaply desalinize seawater while decarbonizing it. It also can easily be sued to decarbonize the atmosphere as part of normal operation. Now, here is where China becomes involved; China copied the records that Kirk Sorenson of Flibe Energy put online back in the 2000s. The Chinese have had 700 scientists working on a version of MSRs for years now with an unlimited budget. Meanwhile, the DOE has not followed the Congressional request for a report on the status of our Uranium 233/Thorium stockpile. (Thorium, BTW; is 200 times more energy than Uranium and millions of times more than carbon-based fuels). Whoever produces the first MSR for commercial use will likely win all the marbles on the international power scene. If China builds MSRs in the developing countries they will be in charge of the energy along with communications, and other things. In June of 2022, Tommy Tuberville (R Al) introduced the Thorium Security Act of 2022 onto the Senate Floor. Happily, the interest in MSRs possibilities has been bipartisan since about 2012.
